Back in the hospital.

Recommended Posts

So I started running 104.5 fever last night. My husband rushed me to the ER. Turns out I have a small leak. They have me on full IV liquids and strong antibiotics. Dr is hoping that will cure it. If not it's back to surgery. I knew something wasn't right. I have felt awful all week

I hate this!

I hope u feel better too, I'm hoping that I'm not running a temp as well... I'm 2 days post op and just out of the hospital this afternoon. So I'm monitoring myself.

I totally feel you. A week after I came home from a nine day post-op stay (I was diagnosed with a rare endocrine/kidney disorder so I had to stay a week extra to treat that) I was back in the hospital for a weekend with a severe kidney infection. I fought going to the ER because I had just spent over a week in the hospital and I was miserable and sick of it, but it turned out to be the best thing for me. When I left the hospital I finally felt better! It was worth the hospital stay just to feel somewhat normal again!

Good luck, and keep us posted!

I actually was moved to the ICU last night. I was in sepsis from the leak. It has become very dangerous now.

I'm so sorry. I was in the ICU for awhile too, during my first stay. I was upset at first, but I felt the move was a good thing after a bit because I never felt ignored, everybody was on top of my treatment and able to come help me the second I needed help. They also had access to medications the other hospital units didn't have, and they could order and perform procedures the other units couldn't (that's where I got my PICC line and hardcore antibiotics). I credit the ICU for getting me healthy enough to go home.

I'm sending lots of positive thoughts!

I just had a PICC line put in. It is so much better than the IVS. I had an IV in each arm since they were giving me so many antibiotics and fluids.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
