What does PB'd mean?

Recommended Posts

Jack, that's putting it lightly... lol...

It basically happens when you don't chew well enough, take too big of a bite, eat too fast, or eat something that your stomach just can't handle. We call it a PB because it's different than throwing up, in the sense that it's quite literally just your food coming back up. There's not any stomach acid involved or anything.

From my experience they are pretty mild for the most part, but the other night I had Pasta that didn't have enough sauce on it and it was kinda painful when my stomach was trying to get that to come back up. I'm pretty sure the key to everything is making sure ALL of your food is moist enough. ;)

I am just sooooo paranoid about PBing....I won't know when I'm ready for a fill cuz I eat only what I think looks like enough. Haven't really been hungry but I am sure I can eat more....just afraid to.....so how can I tell if I will need one?

Lauri, hang out with us for a while and you'll find that we "talk" about all kinds of "disgusting" little body habits. Anything's game here. LOL

Nancy, you've lost 31 lbs. in less than a month! Wow! You're doing fantastic! That has to be some kind of record! You're very wise to be eating cautiously and avoiding pbing. It is NOT a good thing.

I don't recommend PBing but, don't be afraid of it. Don't try to make yourself do it of course, but, if you feel your food is going down and you are still hungry, try eating a little more. PBing, for me, first starts with a heartburn like feeling. Almost like you took a pill and it went down the wrong way. If you feel this feeling. Stop eating immediately and wait until you don't feel that feeling anymore. The first time it happened to me I was at work and thought the pain was a heart attack. It is not a pleasant feeling, but, unfortunately you will more then likely have it happen after you start getting fills

Yes PB is a weird feeling.. You almost know it immediatly when its gonna happen. With me there is almost never turning back. I stop eating what Im eating and then patiently wait. Not too long off, a couple of minutes or so I feel the urge and then its out. Lost appetite though. I find it happens when I dont chew well enough or try to eat too fast. Old habits are hard to break.. or take a drink and push something down sometimes makes it stuck,,, live and learn,, youde think someone ws gonna steal our plate or something the way we scarf down. No wonder were the size we are. :car: or were.. :) Lost 18 1/2 lbs since my band June 20th so Im gonna keep on keepin on,,,,

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
