itsmekhaled 1 Posted January 30, 2015 After the surgery, I've been losing a lot of hair lately. Any recommended pills or medicine over the counter to take? I've been using Piorin, once a day. But it's not been helping a lot...
LilMissDiva Irene 3,282 Posted January 30, 2015 The bad news is there really isn't much you can do about preventing Hair loss. Majority will experience this. But the good news is you can take things such as Biotin to help it re-grow. I take 5,000iu almost every day. My hair grew back fast and very strong and healthy. Good luck! blashlee 509 Posted January 30, 2015 My surgeon told me there isn't anything you can do about Hair loss except take your Vitamins and be patient. She said it happens about 90 days post-op and takes another 90-120 days for the hair to grow back and regulate. Basically the shock of the weight loss to your system causes the hair follicles to "die." And then when your system starts to regulate itself, it'll reawaken. Pac-woman 325 Posted January 30, 2015 How bad is this Hair loss. Are we talking like baldness?
kikicoates78 220 Posted February 1, 2015 I started taking Biotin everyday.
angelikrissee 24 Posted February 2, 2015 Make sure you take two multis a day and Biotin will help. I lost a lot of hair and my regrowth looks a little crazy but I'm starting to get it all back . My hair is still brittle and dry but I'm trying to use products to put moisture back in my hair. Once your weight loss stops your hair will begin to grow back
MichiganChic 3,262 Posted February 2, 2015 (edited) I really think there is nothing we can do to prevent it all together. I do think there are things we can do to encourage regrowth, and that includes adequate Protein intake and Vitamins. I started losing at 4-5 months post op, and at 12 months post op I looked very thin. It started growing back, slowly after that, and by 2 years post op it's mostly all back. I had a lot of weight to lose and it took more than a year, so I kept my calories very low all that time which I think contributed to the slow return of regrowth. My hair didn't start looking better until I got my calories over 1000 for a while. Edited February 2, 2015 by MichiganChic
