Recommended Posts

Hey guys i was sleeved on Wednesday and home yesterday. I am having a lot of issues with nausea. Did anyone else experience coughing up flem and feeling as if you need to puke constantly? I have been trying to drink Water and take all my medications but when I do I start coughing everything back up. When does it get better?

@@Chale1990 Yes I had really extreme nausea post op VSG. Maybe there is something your surgeon can give you for that. You definitely don't want to vomit up all your fluids. You need to get down whatever you can. Call soon so they can help you. Good luck!

Ah yes, I remember it well. A couple days after surgery and than at month 2 it set in for a month. Ask your surgeon to call in a script for the behind the ear patch or an oral med for nausea. This to shall pass. It's just part of the the sleeves charm ;)

I am two days out and had extreme nausea too. I believe it is because of the anesthesia and pain meds I had at the hospital. I haven't needed pain meds since I got home. Today, I was a little queasy, but able to keep everything down. I would definitely talk to your doctor. If you need pain meds, maybe he can switch you to something easier on your stomach? And if you try not taking them, you may find the pain is totally manageable without them.

Also, the only thing that seemed to help me was walking around. I felt my tummy rumbling as I moved and I did need to burp, but it helped liquids stay down by forcing them through the pouch instead back up my throat. I also took some Gas X strips and that seemed to calm things down a little.

I hope you feel better soon!

Yes I stopped all meds prescribed by the doctor today and feel much better! The only problem I have now is that I have developed a rash all over my sides, stomach and breast :-(

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
