Eli Alexander 316 Posted January 30, 2015 (edited) So where I just got sleeved they don't believe in setting goal weights because they don't like having people who lose 100 pounds feel like losers because they didn't lose 125. I understand their thinking, but for me, I do well with goals. And I know myself, if I don't make my goal, but know I gave an awesome effort, I'd still be thrilled in my accomplishment. So, here are my numbers I'd you want to try and set my goal. Height 5'8" fattest 310. Weight day of surgery 283. Weight today, 10 days post op, 266 Ask me anything Edited January 30, 2015 by Eli Alexander
joatsaint 2,814 Posted January 30, 2015 I feel the same way about goal weights as you. I need something to shoot for. I'm 5'11" and was told to realistically expect to lose 80% of my excess weight. The day of surgery, I was 352lbs. My doc said he expected me to hit 235. But I easily reached that goal. So I set another - to get to 225. I reached that, and then went for 215, then 205. I'm hanging around 205 most weeks and it's very easy to stay at this weight. Now I'm considering putting in the effort to go for 199. I have a big psychological barrier to believe I can break 200lbs, but I'm working on it. So that was my strategy. I figured out how much excess weight I was carrying, expected to lose 80% of that. And reevaluated my goal once I reached it. Hope this helps.
