Guys can I admit to something????

I m totally petrified of the surgery bit... Keeping a strong face infront of the family... But I m a total wuss????

I have wanted this for over 5 years now, finally been thinking of it since 1 year and now it's actually happening and I'm excited, petrified, terrified.... Fearified????

Yesterday I have my upper GI endoscopy and it went fine since I was knocked out. But once I woke up, I was in sooooo much discomfort/pain... I vomited twice and tried to sleep thru the pain, the pain is 50% less today but it still persists.

Started my liquid diet today, getting sleeved on 12th March mixed feelings , I m all over the place....

Any encouraging words and strength imparting messages?!?!?!

It's normal to go thru all those emotions. A speaker came to my program and said to mourn your old life and prepare to embrace your new life. It is a new life. A healthy, brighter and happier life. You will look forward to clothes shopping, feel comfortable in your skin, and confident. Every week goes by fast ad the weight melts away. You will be great!

Your words are just too kind, practically terrified to my every nerve... No wonder why they have a psychological evaluation for surgeries, because it involves a whole lot of mind convincing and control.....

@@ninnifer44 Congrats????????????????????

I am 11 days post op, was sleeved 2/26 and am 198. It's been a long time for me too. In 2011, I lost weight and stayed under 200 for all of 3 months. Before that was almost 10 years.

I am sooooo happy I did this for myself. Today I looked in the bathroom mirror and realized my "old lady jowls" are gone! My clothing size has dropped faster than my weight ????, but because I have a robust belly (still swollen) I still need the larger waist. I cannot stand or or walk for very long at a time, but I am getting out and doing a bit more each day. It still was the best decision I ever made.

I started walking on the treadmill at 3 weeks after surgery. Only went at a speed of 2. You can feel it when you overdo it and need to slow down. I got on eliptical yesterday (4 weeks) and it felt fine. My doctor only recommended walking for the first 4-6 weeks. "If it hurts, don't do it"

@@cloud9 and @ninnifer44. I too was wondering about working out. I did a bit too much walking, wandering around Wallyworld on Sunday, and this past weekend carried stuff that was probably over ten pounds. Because of course I brought all my Water, Jello and Protein Drinks for the ENTIRE DAY in my bag.

I will have my elliptical brought back in the house the end of the month. April is fast approaching and I need to get in walking shape for China...

I had surgery on 2/27. Reading thru this post has made me so happy. Very positive people!!! I had my 1st follow up with my doc and he was super happy with my progress, how Im healing, and my attitude. I have wanted to do surgery for many years but never got the nerve. I now have a 3rd grandbaby and all I could think is that I cant even get on the floor to play with him. I was soooo ready for this new lifestyle!

I want to share a "recipe" I created today. I dont do the sugar substitutes (they mess with my tummy). I.wanted Jello. So i thought hmmm. I got unflavored Gelatin, followed directions to do microwave method for a single packet. So used 1/4 cup cold Water and followed directions. Then, instead of adding more 1-1/4 water and flavoring, i used no sugar added fruit juice! It worked great! And its small enuff an amt that I can make other flavors without getting bored with it. I may have to make fruit popscicles next! Lol

Best of wishes for you! It is not as painful as I expected so hopefully you too will be only sore, not in pain. Walk walk.walk as soon as you can. It will make the air stuck in your tummy release faster. That was the most pain I suffered. And I knew walking made it go away so I was quite the hall walker lol.

PS: I forgot to mention that the Gelatin Jello I made has 7gr of.protein. so equal to an 8oz glass of milk. We all need options man. ☺

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
