Any one in their early 30s? I'm looking for a good group of people that chat with. I can't relate to older folks having surgery, as I really think the recovery & life struggles will be different because of age. I'm a 31 yr old mom of 2(5 & 7), live around Dallas & work full-time. My surgery is on Feb 9th. Just started pre-op liver shrink diet on Monday... isn't as bad as I imagined!! I also quit smoking, talk about a complete change in habits!! I look forward to going through this journey with all of y'all! :)

Sometimes older folks are the best to listen to. Just saying......

Struggles, pain, complications are not age prejuduce. But experience is a gold mine. Something to keep in mind :)

I'm 33 with my surgery scheduled for February 18th. Preop diet starts in 6 days. I'm a mom of 3 girls(5,3,1) and live in Michigan. The hardest part so far was giving up caffeine. With the little kids I'm running low on energy.

Hi. Im 33, a mom of 2 and I'm from Massachusetts. My surgery date was January 5. I had no special detox diet prior to surgery. Just shrunk my portion sizes until the day before and then drank carnation all day. Surgery was a breeze for me. I was scared because i had never been under anesthesia before but it was over so fast. The pain was tolerable, the meds made me sick so i just had liquid tylenol. I was in only in the hospital for a day. The post op diet was a slight struggle at first as i worked my way through a few ounces at a time all while still having to cook and feed the rest of the family. I graduated to soft protiens last week and am feeling great. Ive lost 35 pounds since surgery and am motivated to stick to the diet plan and exercise daily. Although, that has been a little tough with 3 feet of snow outside. I wish you luck and success on your journey.

I'm 30 and a mother of twin 2 year old girls. My surgery is February 11th (just 10 more days) in San Antonio w/Dr Gonzales.

I work full time and don't know how my kids are going to handle not being able to crawl all over me. Doing diaper changes with a kicking a screaming kid is a daily occurrence, so wish me luck. My mother-in-law is going to spend the first 3-4 days with us helping out but then I'm on my own.

I'm a 34 yo mother of 3 (9,12,14). I had the sleeve done on 12/30/14 so I am almost 5 weeks out. As of this morning I am down 21 lbs and feeling great. The weight is coming off a little slower than I expected but as long as the scales are moving down I am happy. The first week postop was rough for me. I had a lot of pain and also my dad passed away 3 days after my surgery. As of now I'm felling better than I have in years. It is a huge adjustment for my kids. But they are adapting. It's been better for my entire family.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
