k9nana 50 Posted January 29, 2015 I've been observing some YouTube WLS videos and have noticed that some people have really dark circles around their eyes. Both in VSG and bypass patients. Is this from surgery and fast weight loss? I didn't want to ask them and possibly embarrass them but I wonder if this is a side affect.

k9nana 50 Posted January 29, 2015 Did this come after surgery or have you had them before surgery? Momma_D you mention stress, has the surgery caused a lot of stress? My vsg surgery date is March 3rd. I've been doing a lot of research and asking a lot of questions hoping to ease my mind. I noticed that the majority of people with the dark circles were bypass patients compared to vsg patients. Could there be a connection?

LipstickLady 25,682 Posted January 29, 2015 Dark circles can be a tonal/pigment thing, allergies, a Vitamin deficiency or simply hereditary. If your parents have them, there is a good chance you will.I've not noticed dark circles with anyone I know with WLS. Perhaps it's a bad camera or lighting?Seriously. Concealer will cover circles. It will not cover a fat arse.

JustWatchMe 7,117 Posted January 29, 2015 (edited) I've never looked good on a webcam. My daughter Skypes me from college and I'm always startled seeing my mug on the screen. Even on my phone. Lol Edited January 29, 2015 by JustWatchMe

James Marusek 5,244 Posted January 29, 2015 After surgery, I developed very fine wrinkles all over my face. It made me look 100 years old. My eyes looked sunken. My wife suggested I use Bio Oil. I bought it at CVS. I applied it each morning and the wrinkles went away and the area around my eyes look much better now. It is possible that I was not drinking enough fluids. I was told that it could cause wrinkles too.
k9nana 50 Posted January 29, 2015 Thank you for the input, I'm 65 and not happy with what I look like now...... lol don't want to look 100 ! I have about 55 pounds to lose and can't seem to do it without the "tool" of the surgery. Well, I can do it... I just can't keep it off. I have failed so many times and now the extra weight has taken it's toll on my body and joints. I study and read everything I can find on VSG and haven't seen anything about dark circles or sunken eyes so I thank you all for sharing your experience. I will look for the Bio oil too.
