Ouch. (TMI)

That would be a bummer to have surgery postponed for an infected hooha hair!
It really would. And it would be embarassing, too! You know, telling people when they ask why it was postponed that it was because I had an infected ingrown hair down there.

I work of an ob/gyn and we have seen the same thing a few times. since you haven't shaved in a long time it could also be something called a bartholin's cyst. Look it up on web md or one of those and let me know what you think. But I have heard they are very painful. I wince everytime my dr does the lidocaine injection, it looks awful.

I looked it up, but I don't think it was a bartholin's cyst. It was further up on my vulva, and I didn't have a lump or anything before this abcess came up.

But I have heard they are very painful. I wince everytime my dr does the lidocaine injection, it looks awful.

It's worse than it looks, believe me. That shot was the most excruciating medical procedure that I've ever gone through. And that includes the time I had a very large (larger than a quarter) cystic acne abcess on my face lanced and the doctor didn't let the anesthetic spray kick in before he cut it and started pressing. That was agonizing, but this was way beyond it.

It was most likely a staph infection and they can only be cured by lancing them. Once they are opened and the pus drains out, the hot soaks keep it open and draining. The antibiotic does the rest of the job. In 5-7 days, you're cured so you won't have to worry at all about your surgery be canceled.

I had the exact same thing happen to me a week before my surgery. HUGE nasty boil on my hoo-ha (staph infection) and I had to be on antibiotics for it, the doc I went to didn't want to lance it (it was about the size of a quarter as well, and I had to keep checking to make sure I didn't have any fever with it, since it is an infection. I never did have a fever with it, and the antibiotics cleared it up fairly quickly, so my surgery was a go on time. Good luck.

I have one too as I type this...the size of quarter also. I went to the Dr on Friday and mine is a staph infection. He lanced it with no deadener at all....so I don't know whats worse. Mine is at the top of the bikini line, you know, right in the crease you get when you sit down....but thank God i am healing now!! 20 days of antibiotics....

You did not want to be me this weekend. I went to bed at midnight on Friday night. At 2 AM, I woke up and had a quarter-sized lump on my hoo-ha. Very painful, but tolerable. As the weekend went on, though, it grew. And grew. And grew. I could barely walk because of the pain and I was taking LOTS of Advil for the pain (didn't do much more than take the edge off of it). Of course, no one was open yesterday because of the holiday, but I was able to make an appointment to see my gynecologist this morning, luckily. She took a look at it and said that it was an ingrown hair, but that the pus-pocket thing was huge, about 2 1/2 inches. So, I got to have my crotch lanced this morning. And let me tell you, that damn lidocaine shot was the most painful thing I have EVER experienced. I am normally have a high tolerance for pain, but I was whimpering like a baby.

Laurend Dear,

OUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm wincing as I write this!!!:omg:

It's quite possible that after this horrendous experience your surgery will seem like a piece of cake!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't think any part of mine or my recovery period has even come close to any of what you have gone through. I just had my surgery a month ago so it's not that I am forgetting any of the pain or anything. I think you'll probably sail right on through and thank the good lord that the incisions are all ABOVE the belly button!!!!!!:clap2::clap2::clap2:

I hope all gets healed before your surgery date. I know you must have been in agony, but the way you told the story gave me a great laugh! Thanks:)

I'm feeling much better now. The abcess is almost completely gone and I am just finishing up the antibiotics.

What really gets me, though, is that I didn't realize just how much it really hurt until it didn't hurt anymore. Before I went to the doctor, I was literally unable to do anything without pain. Whenever I stood up, I always had to stop and stand still for a minute or so, just to let the pain pass. Walking, especially in the morning, was super painful. There were a few times that I was just crying because it hurt so much. I seriously considered going to the emergency room for it. I couldn't sleep because of it, because no matter what position I was in, there was some sort of pressure being put on it. I couldn't lay on my back because the blanket would settle and put pressure on it. I couldn't lay on my side because my legs would put pressure on it. I obviously couldn't lay on my stomach. I eventually just had to choose which position hurt the least and then try not to move. Heck, even when I was just sitting down, I couldn't even lean forward slightly without putting pressure on it.

I can't get over the size of it, either. When I went to the doctor, I knew it was big, but I didn't know it was that big. Two and half inches.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
