    • Nope, aside from a little soreness during the recovery, things went great!

    • Yes, but nothing serious. I just had some stomach issues.

    • Yes, somehow I developed some nutrient deficiencies. See below for which ones I had and how I fixed them or whether I’m still dealing with them.

    • Yes, I ended up back in the hospital. See why in the conversation below.

    • I haven’t had weight loss surgery yet, but I’m crossing my fingers that nothing serious happens to me.

I had a pneumothorax during surgery and the surgeon was unable to do the RNY. I woke up to a chest tube and drain with no WLS. The important thing is I woke up ????

Staph infection contracted from hospital.... Equaled 2 bad weeks of pain and a month dealing with an open wound. Nothing my surgeon did wrong just issues at the local hospital. I'm now 4 months out and would do it all over again. Yes the infection sucked BUT the results are worth it all.

Not one thing. Could not have gone better. When I was still seeing my original surgeon I used to joke with him that I wished that I had at least become lactose intolerant or something, so I would have lost more!

I had band to bypass so it goes without saying I had band complications and I would try to talk anyone considering that route out of it.

Now at just over 2 weeks post op with my bypass I have an infection in one of my incisions and the rest of them are looking pretty red and angry. Will see how easily this clears up. I'm hopeful it does.

No complications- was at work six days post op; it was a tiring week but do-able.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
