I have an EGD scheduled for February 12, can someone please tell me what to expect. They told me I have to have someone drive me back home.

I haven't had one but if they are telling you have someone drive you home they likely are given you a light anesthetic.

I hear it is a wonderful (although short) nap. Overwith in a snap. Will probably have a slight sore throat afterward. But since you are sedated, you will need a lift home.

Mine was easy. IV with what the anesthesiologist explained as deep sedation. I was 100% out, but for a grand total of 6 minutes (I asked out of curiosity).

I didn't feel a thing and had no soreness after the fact. The biggest issue was finding the vein for the IV! Good luck.

It's a 15 minute procedure where an anesthesiologist administers propofol and the gastroenterologist checks your stomach out with a camera. They check for ulcers, hiatal hernia h pylori, etc. very easy procedure

It was super easy. I did need someone to drive me home. The drug they used made me slow thinking for a few hours. I was a bit sore where they took a biopsy. But overall very quick procedure.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
