I take a daily probiotic per my doctor. They said Culturelle is the best for it. Its worth a try but doesn't always work perfectly. Good luck

I'm in the same boat, but 6 days post-op. I'm having more going out then I'm able to take in. (Drinking is a while other story all together). The nurse told me to take Imodium for the diarrhea. I can't tell you the results, as i just took it about five minutes ago. The biggest concern is dehydration right now, so try to keep drinking. If you're running a fever (101.0) and not untrusting much you may want to go to the ER.

I am 14 days and still have diarrhea but not nearly as bad as the 1st 10 days. The nurse told me as long as I was doing liquids there is a good chance of diarrhea. liquids in, liquid out. Imodium helped to limit it to 4 times a day instead of 10. I'm starting mushy food now so my stool is beginning to get less liquid and only once a day do I have to race to the toilet.

I did have to go to the ER on day 5 because of dehydration. I felt better immediatley. It was a catch 22, I wasn't able to get the liquids down because I was sleeping for hours at a time and not awake enough to drink enough fluids. Water just doesn't taste the same as it did.

Update on the Imodium: it worked well for me with no other incidents after one pill. On a side note, the temperature of the liquid you're consuming matters. If it's too cold or too hot it can cause muscle spasms in your stomach. I sure wish I had this info since day one.

Mine just stopped on its own...was a bit scary because I thought it wouldn't.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
