@ Pac-woman, I am in the EXACT same boat as you. Same surgery date of 1/12, same 15 lb weight loss and same 3 day, no weight change (well, 4 oz down) and still on full liquid diet. I too am having trouble with my daily Fluid intake although I have managed to get the Protein part in for the last 3 days. Thank you for your post, it really made me feel like I'm not alone in this and everybody's encouraging replies are really helpful to stay motivated and keep doing the work.

Hope your Dr. appt tomorrow goes well and please do share if he/she has any helpful tips for moving past this "stall".

Take care.

My Protein intake has been upped from 92g to 120 g....I am having GREAT difficulty getting in 92 g especially while working! I have been bouncing around 255-261 for the last 4 weeks or so and it's driving me nuts!!

UGH! Helpful tips appreciate and this is just so "stall-tastic!"

@@Ashy76, I've never heard of such a high Protein requirement! I've always been told it should be between 60 & 80 grams...closer to 60 for women and 80 for men.

I agree, I was told 60 - 80 depends on your body type.

@ beagle lover I'm not sure what you're replying to, I didn't mention the amount of Protein I get in my post? I'm getting 60 grams daily per my surgeon and NUT

@@Ashy76 Hello there, I went to my follow up and I advised about my struggles with the calorie intake, the Water intake, the stuff getting stuck going down, blah blah blah.

He advised that the first 8 wks, the insides are still swollen. Things should get easier after 6-8 wks or so. He explained that after surgery, the esophogus was at thick as a pencil. Imagine trying to put food through a pencil. Well, that is why it gets "stuck". He says if it is still uncomfortable, to stick to liquids and try again the following week. He said, each week should get a little easier.

I asked about my stall and he said the body is in starvation mode because of the low calorie intake. Once I am able to increase the calories, it will leave starvation mode and start burning fat again (this includes exercise of course). However, right now....until I can increase my calorie intake, he is more concern with hydration. He rather me drink Water all day and eat next to nothing, then not drink water and spend time trying to shove stuff down. Hydration will keep you out of the hospital and help your body heal. Because while we are going through this, your body is creating bile from all the crap we have stored internally from poor eating. So it is important to help flush it out.

He said that the stomach is designed to stretch. Eventually, I will be able to eat a kid's portion of a meal and feel full faster than a normal person. Which prevents overeating. You really have to stretch the shit out of your stomach with food to be unsuccessful. Just got to be aware of what you eat when that "normal" period comes.

So I am drinking water. Still I feel a little down today because today makes one month that I have not been able to sit down with a plate of food and eat. :( Getting by on shakes sucks.

He actually even said to graze during this hard time to help increase calories. The max calories expected is 800 calories- 1000 is pushing it.

@@Pac-woman thanks so much for the follow up! Yikes, a pencil?!? Well no wonder. I'm still on full liquids so shakes and liquids for me too and I still have one more week....boo. I'm right there with you - ready to move to the next stage and use any type of utensil and my teeth!

Thanks again for sharing, I know I'll pull your post up over the next week and reread all the useful info and to remind myself to keep on the right track.

My doctor told me to not worry about the ups and downs in between now and my goal. I weight myself daily to learn how my body reacts during the month. I ve learned in 7 month that my weight peaks before my menstrual cycle and during ovulation, then it drops more. Like it was mentioned before, focus on eating and doing what you need to be doing. The weight will come off. Good luck. Just keep your eyes on the goal.

@@Ashy76 No problem girl. Believe me, I will be pulling my own post as a reminder, because when you are hungry and can't get the shit down, you forget what was said and get depressed. (I do).

Can't wait til I can swallow with out worrying if it is going to go down or not. Yeah, he said pencil. You should have seen my eyes as he pointed to his pencil in his hand.

I go back in a month and I am still in that stupid stall. But I understand.....

The struggle is real!! lol

@@Vanessa G my weight cycle is exactly the same! Just ending my period and down a lb. both yesterday and today. I am 3 months out and have lost 48, but with big stalls between quick drops and always around my cycles. I agree that learning to recognize the impact of monthly cycles on the scale is huge for women!

You probably aren't in a stall. I noticed in the beginning that minor variations happened. A week and no change then suddenly 5 lbs gone. I think it's just your body holding and moving fluids around, hormonal influences, etc. If you still menstruate you will notice this more when you are closer to menstruating. Don't worry just yet. What you're experiencing is pretty normal.

Peace and Comfort

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.
