My plan has no particular guidelines for any of that--how we metabolize food is such an individual thing. I would talk to your NUT to get a good baseline for you if you're concerned!

You should talk to your nutritionist. Mine would not give any specific numbers for anything other than Protein. She wants me to have 85-100 grams of protein per day.

good base line to go off of is 3-5 ozs of protien and 1-2 ozs of veggies. Biggest thing is the daily Vitamins that will help you avoid deficiencies. Clearly , your carbs is something you won't be able to avoid , yet selecting the right Carbs is ideal. Avoid : yeast/sugar foods. :-) and make sure you when you are cooking like for your Onions to say : try not to caramelize them (if you do). Caramelization process adds sugar oddly I found out. Welcome to shoot me a message whenever. Good luck.

With the limited space in the sleeve, I just concentrated on getting in as much Protein as I could each time. Didn't leave much if any room for anything else. Hence, my mantra......Eat Protein first......Oh, and hydrate....constantly....as in, all day long. ;)

I've found I don't really have room for veggies at all (5 months post-op) and just focus on getting my Protein in and taking all of my Vitamins and supplements religiously. I've had bloodwork done twice post-op (once at 2 months and once at 4 months) and everything has come back in normal ranges both times. My doctor was so pleased that she has said I can wait until 8 months for my next bloodwork. So despite the lack of veggies, I am apparently getting the nutrition I need.

Just food for thought...... My sleeve was limited to about 3 ounces for several months during the post-op swollen stage......and gradually increased over time (as it relaxed and healed).... to about 6 ounces now. Mind you, it's still is a very restrictive amount, but it now allows me to eat a more rounded meal including veggies and other foods along with my high Protein foods. And as others have said.....just eating a high Protein diet at the beginning never seemed to cause any adverse effects. All my blood work levels came back just fine as well.

I use MyFitness Pal to help track what I'm eating, more to keep track of my Protein intake of 60-80g/day. I usually am under 800 cals/day, 60g carbs, 40g fat, 30-40g sugars. It's just a way that I like to eat to have energy. I haven't lost my hair, I'm losing weight (so far), I take a multivitamin...but...I haven't exercised yet! yikes, right? I'm still in my first month so I'm swollen and just got to the point a few days ago where I'm not in pain. I feel a little stronger each day. I see my nutritionist on Fri and will post any new suggestions she gives me. I guess I feel very blessed to have such a great sugical team that is extremely supportive. They have support groups and I can call anytime with the smallest of concerns. They want me healing, learning, and loving my new self before I go running a 5K lol. I didn't get fat overnight and now I have a LAST chance at living my life in my healthy body. My goal when I started this was never to wear a bikini or walk the runway in a size 0. I want the X off my shirts and the W off my jeans. Thats it! I want to see my 10 and 5 year old sons graduate college and be sitting in the bleachers, not watching on skype because I'm bedridden from my weight. Don't become obsessed with the numbers unless it helps you FUEL your body better. Be good to your new self!!

I am 2 months one week post op. I do 500-600 calories a day, 40-60 G Protein, and less than 20 carbs a day. Also at least 80 oz of Water a day. Down 60 lbs. I hope this helps! ????

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
