Am I the only one who keeps hearing this question?

Recommended Posts

"When are you going to stop losing weight?"

I don't know, when are you going to stop asking?

"You're getting too skinny!"

If you're implying I have an eating disorder, I don't.

I'm SO happy with my progress, being healthy and smaller feels amazing, but I'm getting frustrated with the constant questions and comments about how I look now. I understand that I've never been skinny therefore its almost foreign to others how I look now, but sometimes I cant handle it. Why is it easier to make these comments now that I'm thinner but NO ONE ever asked me if I planned to lose a few pounds when I was morbidly obese. I can see now why a lot of thin people can have so many body image issues.

I'm happy slipping on my size 8 jeans. I'll take these over a cheeseburger from McDonalds ANY DAY!

I cannot wait to start hearing that question lol. I guess its easy when you dont hear it , to like it. I guess the polite answer would be, " When my body finds the weight it wants to be at." The snarky answer would be "When you stop asking," and the rude answer would be " When you mind your own business." , But you done great so far from what I see, so maybe its a Water on a ducks back type of thing?

Keep up the great work!

At first I was the same way Steve, I'm usually pretty good with my answers but at times I want to say "Well when are YOU going to LOSE a few pounds?" (I dont LOL) Most days Im like the happy little duck but some days it hurts. I'm happy and healthy so thats all that matters :)

Funny, I just had this question from a friend yesterday and an acquaintance this morning. It's not really bothering me too much because I know that they only think I'm too thin because they are so used to my former, morbidly obese size. Once I maintain this weight for a while, I expect people will treat me like they treat everyone else, and the weight comments will stop.

Hi Heather, It sounds like you're doing great! as long as you're happy, try to stay positive. I should be having surgery in another 6 weeks and I know already that I'll be going through the same thing. I am already hearing from family that I don't need to have the surgery, and it is so hard to keep my head straight. My mom,2 brothers, and a sister to die from diabetes complications. I have it too and want the best solution, I think RNY is my better choice. I'm happy for you and glad you asked the question that I know I'll be hearing. I weigh 220 and carry it all from waist up.

Hi, I get that a lot as well, lol. Before the surgery, when I did tell a few "friends" that I was having this surgery, I got.

You're not that big.

You can do it on your own, if you just try.

It's so dangerous, why chance it?

It might not even work.

Everyone gains it back.

Now from these same jealous people, I get.

You're too thin.

You look sick.

When is enough enough??

And much more.

These supposed friends I have left them behind for my sanity. I am still loosing cause all of this has awakened an eating disorder.

I am in counseling. I usually only have about 500-600 calories a day. I know that is not good but I am working on it.

I still get sick if I go for that 3rd bit. Never fails.

I just had my Tummy Tuck 3 weeks ago. Recovery sucks, not gonna lie.

But hopefully by next month it will look good.

I do need muscles in my legs and arms and a soon as I get the OK, I will be doing squats on commercials.

What people don't get, it's MY STORY not there's.

Either support me or get off the boat.

I would love to be weight loss buddy's.

I just found this site a week ago. Love it!!!!!!!

You are doing wicked awesome!!!!!!!

Keep the updates coming!

Kim

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
