Is it just me but does it seem like they make you wait on purpose? They know how badly you want the surgery, and make you jump through hoops just to qualify but they take all day just to call you to schedule the surgery. I had to complete 6 mos of requirements and is now waiting for a date. I don't want to blow their phone lines up, but I really believe they make you wait on purpose. Sorry just venting!

@@leag78 Not just you -- the waiting is the WORST. What is the #1 most important thing to you (information, "the call", a date, etc.) is just not the most important to the person on the other end -- I'm quite sure I got a reputation as a pest, but geez - if people would have just called or emailed back with an answer, that would have been great -- as it was, I found out from my insurance company that I'd been approved before my surgeon's office had even told me they'd submitted my info -- and yes, I'd asked if/when they planned to submit. My date is this week - finally... hang in there!

WELL FOR ME IT WAS THE SURGEONS STAFF. THEY SOMETIMES ARE BACKED UP WITH SO MUCH PAPERWORK AND GET BEHIND. I WAS A PEST IN CALLING THEM AND ASKING " WHATS GOING ON " EVERY DAY! THEY SAID "WE WILL CALL YOU" BUT I JUST WAITED AND THEY DID CALL. ( JUST BE PATIENT THEY WILL CALL ) GOOD LUCK. ;)

Take it from me, sometimes it's good to be a pest. If I hadn't called my surgeon's office to inquire about whether they'd submitted my completed paperwork I'd probably still be waiting to have my surgery. Someone dropped the ball and my paperwork was overlooked on someone's desk for nearly three weeks. I had a gut feeling that something wasn't quite right so I called. Be persistent if that's what it takes to put your mind at ease.

I also had this happen to me. But i was too a pest and called on and on. To be competly i think it came handy, i called even the insurance and everyday since my client coordinator said she submitted my paperwork to the insurance i called my insurace day to day until they approved it. Luckly it was quick but unless i would have gotten that approval code and called my sugeom to give them that. They were waiting for the paperwork to be mailed. I sped that process and they schedule me the day i gave the the approval code ofcourse the first called to comfirmed but then received a call back. Bow im nervously waiting for the big day. This friday. ????

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
