Hi everyone m my name is Christi and tomorrow I will have finally made it thru my first week. My surgery was on Monday January 19, 2015. This process took me right at a year to get here, I kept wondering why things kept happening, to change everything. Now I've seen what and why God kept putting things in my way , until HE had it all exactly the right way for me and for things to work out the way it did. This 1 st week has been challenging to say the last, staying on the clear liquid diet , yet smelling the wonderful food being cooked food everyone else my tummy rumbles just crying out for something to eat. I've had good days and bad ones, besides all the pains and cramps of getting rid of all the gas, I've been able to get out of the house to walk, maybe to Walmart , I just hold onto cart for dear life remembering why I did this again. Then the next day I can barely move. I have great support from family and husband who can't wait for the new me too get here. But I do have to remind him, honey I'm still healing it's only been a few days ago, remember. . Today is one of my wore out days, totally drained. Yesterday we went to get me more of this "yummy" Isopure liquid to drink and I got in and out of the car several times, did a few stairs and w with that walking several stores. I was exausted by time we got home. I pray week 2 is a lot easier, as I think ahead of how my life will be changing, and what my food intake needs to be, counting calories, or carbs, or even fat content , isn't that part of what got me this way? So I hope to pick up some pointers on cooking great healthy food, new exercise and mostly how to change my thought process on how I look at myself, from the inside out. Thank you all for letting me ramble on, looking forward to meeting lots of new people and hopefully making new friends along the way.

Congratulations @Christi6972. My surgery was on January 20, 2015 so I'm just a day behind you big sister. Lol. I should try the Isopure I have been taking my Premier Protein shakes. What flavors are the best in your opinion? I will pray for us both that week 2 is easier.

Congratulations on your decision. I promise it will get better as time goes on. This is especially true when u see the numbers going down on the scale and the non scale victories. Sleeved 11/11and down 40 pounds and 3 sizes.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
