Another NSV! Blood Pressure Under Control

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, just wanted to share another NSV benefit from having VSG.

Pre-surgery my blood pressure was averaging 143 over 105. 2 years later its averaging 125 over 90. Sometimes it even gets as low as 117/82. B) I check my pressure about once a week when I make a Sam's Club run. They have a blood pressure machine over at the pharmacy.

Yeah! I also hovered around 125/80 all the way to 154/any given number, and was on Water pills to control it. I'm now 110/70 most days or some days lower than 110. I have to take mine everyday to make sure I'm not too low. I have the machine at home. WOW, what excess fat can do to the body.

Isn't that a great feeling?? Before my surgery, at my heaviest, and for the first time in my life I struggled with high blood pressure. The first time I saw that 156/102 reading and was put on medication was the day I decided to have WLS. Literally weeks after my sugary I was taken off meds because my blood pressure was normal. Best feeling in the world :)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
