Any good tricks to get you through the tough "I WAANNA EAT times"??

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

I need some help from the experienced Bandsters..

I am almost 4 weeks Post- OP and am just now suffering through the hunger!!!! I will state I just had a pretty rough Period (surgery related??) and it's like my body said, OK we are tired soFFFEEEDDD MMMEEE :hungry: and of course I can't eat like I am use to. I guess I am just going thru the after period blahs because today is the first day I wish I hadn't had this surgery.

Do any of you experienced bandsters have tricks of the trade to help get thru these difficult days of hunger, wanting to eat and wanting to cry for hours thinking you have made a mistake, even though I know it's not true...

Tomorrow will be better I hope/know.

Tough day for me......

Kitty

I had depression too.

This isn't a trick but when I wanted to eat all the time, I started counting calories. Dang it I didn't want to go back into diet mode but I also wanted to succeed.

I would cut myself off at around 1000 to 1100 and then let myself eat sf popsicle (banana from Krogers my fav) to fill up on. I ignored the calories for these because I would only eat 1 or two of them. I also found Orville Reddbacher Carmel popcorn cakes for 40 cal each very filling.

After a few weeks I could quit counting because I was in a routine and would know when to stop.

After my first fill it was easy. I thought I had restriction after surgery but was I in for a surprise. I had my first fill 6 weeks after surgery. Just 2 fills in all.

My doctor must have been aggressive with fills. I do not know any numbers for my fills or band.

Tonight I ate 3/4 of small corn on the cob with lots of butter. I ate half a small chicken leg with lots of BBQ Sauce. That was at 5 pm and at 830 I am stilll not hungry.

Hope this helps and wish I had tricks.

Are you on solids yet? If so, you may want to try eating 6 small meals a day instead of 3 regular ones. Eating about every 3 hours will keep your metabolism going too. Also, be sure you are eating lots of Protein and fiber--they will help keep you full longer. And be sure you are drinking your water--all day! I keep lots of low calorie Snacks handy and don't hesitate to have one if I am truly hungry. Hope this helps.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
