GADeltaDawn 14 Posted January 25, 2015 Hi y'all! I started out wanting the sleeve but the more I learned about it, the more I'm considering the bypass instead. Did anyone else change their minds and if so, what were the driving factors behind you're decision? The main thing that I like about the sleeve is the hunger hormone being gone but I have horrible reflux and heartburn already and don't want it to get worse. On the bypass side, the dumping would probably be a good thing for me because of my sweet tooth. I need that accountability. I think I like the longer history of the bypass too, seems to be the gold standard. I really don't want to risk a revision later. You're thoughts?
James Marusek 5,244 Posted January 25, 2015 I had RNY surgery 20 months ago. I lost hunger right after the surgery and the weight seem to just melt off. I had episode of severe acid reflux prior to surgery but none after. I encountered dumping a few times but you learn quickly to avoid it.
mickally 95 Posted January 28, 2015 I had the vertical sleeve in October 2013. Now I'm having a revision to gastric bypass because I can not get the reflux under control. Had I known what I know now about reflux and the sleeve not being the best choice I would have just had the bypass and saved myself from a second surgery.
