Chuckie 9 Posted February 9, 2015 Don't be afraid. You are still early out and things need to heal. You will be reassured. Reflux is a problem for me too. The first couple of weeks are difficult. I still worry about everything and I am 7 weeks out. You will be ok.

kyrickchick64 468 Posted February 11, 2015 Ok immediately thinking the worst isn't helping. You need to breathe and relax. I know you are uncomfortable but getting stressed ifs just making that bile come up more. Try a clear Protein Drink, prop your pillows up, suck on a couple popsicles and try to relax a little. Thinking the worst doesn't help anything. You have just had a very major surgery it takes time for it to settle in.

Thinking the worst doesn't help anything. You have just had a very major surgery it takes time for it to settle in. the past five days have been no fun. I had to go to er and get fluids. I had a swallow test that showed blockage. then I had some scope done yesterday where he opened something up more. I'm still throwing up so I'm hoping that's just old stuff. ive been on liquid for 5 days although it doesn't bother me. this all has been difficult.
BLERDgirl 6,417 Posted February 11, 2015 I was wondering what was happening. So sorry you're having a tough time of it. Just focus on staying hydrated. I hope you're over the worse of this.
Peace Love & Sleeve 27 Posted February 11, 2015 I hope so too @BLERDgirl. My throat hurts so much today from the scope :/
Peace Love & Sleeve 27 Posted February 12, 2015 Still not doing great. finally tried eating something today and couldn't keep it down.
BLERDgirl 6,417 Posted February 12, 2015 Maybe stay on liquids for a week and try again. If you still can't keep anything down by then call the doctor back. Can you do diluted gatorade or broth?
Peace Love & Sleeve 27 Posted February 13, 2015 Does watermelon stay down?
BLERDgirl 6,417 Posted February 13, 2015 Everything stays down for me. It's a light fruit and it's mostly Water if you think you can keep it down, try it.
Peace Love & Sleeve 27 Posted February 13, 2015 I still can't keep much down, I just had a tsp of a banana and it did not stay. I'm hoping watermelon will be refreshing
BLERDgirl 6,417 Posted February 13, 2015 I'm sure you're hungry but I wouldn't try heavy things like banana. Watermelon may work but I would stick to liquids and broth for a bit. At this point you need things that will stay down. You can try the fortified waters like Propel or even 50/50 Water and gatorade, but you really need to focus on staying hydrated and keeping things down. I would shelve things like bananas or cereals until you can keep water and broth down consistently.
Peace Love & Sleeve 27 Posted February 13, 2015 to be honest I'm not hungry and my family is driving me nuts thinking I should be eating etc and they get mad because I can't keep anything down. I'm going to do broth at lunch and see what happens
BLERDgirl 6,417 Posted February 13, 2015 You really need to focus on staying hydrated and keeping things down. We can go without food a lot longer than we can fluids. If you can at least keep down broth you're getting some nutrients. Hopefully giving your body some rest will allow it time to heal.
