Pat777 0 Posted May 28, 2007 I just had my lap band surgery on Thursday 5-24-07. I have been dry heaving for three days. Nothing comes up when I do this. It seems to happen when I stir around like walking for example. It is after I drink or eat anything. I have tried the nausea meds the Dr. gave me and they haven't worked. My wife got me some gas-x and that doesn't seem to work either. If I didn't have this problem I would say this surgery was easy. I want to go back to work tomorrow but everytime I get up I get queezy. Any ideas?
lianna 3 Posted May 28, 2007 Well, you shouldnt be eating anything......so I assume you mean liquids? Are you taking tiny little sips and giving them a few seconds to settle in between? For me, warm liquids were the easiest for the first few days post-op. I wouldnt think the gas would cause nausea, but that may be what is doing it. Also, the anesthesia can cause this in people, and can take several days to clear your system. I really have no advice except that you should certainly call your surgeon and let him know what is going on. The heaving is not good.
Pat777 0 Posted May 29, 2007 Yes I am on a liquid only diet. I mean eat liquid (ie broths) and drinking Water.< /p>
*susan* 1,709 Posted May 29, 2007 I had pretty extreme problems with being very dizzy and lightheaded for about a week after my surgery. If I wasn't careful, it would lead to vomiting as well. I had to be very careful when going to stand or move, and start off very slow. I am surprised the meds the doctor gave you for it are not more effective though, mine helped a great deal. Have you tried contacting your doctor, perhaps you need a stronger dose. Also, you mentioned you are doing broths and drinking Water. It sounds like you need Protein. Have you tried any of the Protein Shakes?
Betsyjane 2 Posted May 30, 2007 Sometimes the aftermath of anaesthesia can be pretty yucky. Call your doc and ask for a nausea patch!
teckla 0 Posted January 14, 2008 I threw up stomach acid and anything else I was able to eat or drink for 4 weeks. I would even wake up and throw up with no warning before I could get out of bed. But it did go away.
