You don't know what those who are opposed to abortion hope to accomplish by making it illegal? They hope to accomplish the saving of innocent human being lives. Nothing more. Where have you been?

Nothing more? Oh, I think it is a lot more. It isn't just about stopping abortions, because legal or illegal, they will still happen. It's about control. And if they want control over women's bodies then they need to say what the punishment should be after they exercise that control and the woman defies it and "breaks the law".

Yes, I want them to say what the punishment should be. Out loud. In the media and with the same ferocity that they oppose abortion. And if it's jail then have the guts to say it. That bishop on the Chris Matthews tape didn't have the guts to say it because he knew what the repercussions would be. He's a coward.

I agree. He knew what the repurcussions would be. An angry mob of women who want the right to kill their babies simply because they are within their own bodies. How sick. Who would want to confront these women who feel that this kind of murder is okay with them?

I'm not afraid to say it though. If the law was that abortions were illegal then women and doctors who murder babies should sustain the same consequences that murderers get. Prison time.

And, they don't want control over womens bodies. They want to protect the unborn from the women who are carrying them. It's not like once abortion is made illegal, they are going to control all other issues with womens bodies. get real. It's only about killing of human lives that they want stoppped. You pro choice people are so bent on the "it's her body she can do what she wants with it" thing that you forget that there is another body that's there too.

Do you realize what that would mean?! You would imprision a, let's say, 9 year old girl who has already gone through being raped just to satisfy your sense of justice for aborting an embryo? That seems a bit extreme to me...

What if that innocent fetus is killing the mother? It's okay for a baby to murder an adult woman?

There are those who would deny an abortion to a woman even if her life were in jeopardy due to it. Because these people are not pro-life, they are pro-embryo/fetus. And anti-women.

They believe life begins at conception and ends at birth.

It's a slippery slope. First abortion, then outlawing birth control, etc.. You know there was a time gynecologist wouldn't give birth control to single women. We could return to that. Of course you would probably support that.

Yes, according to the anti-choice people, a fetus's life trumps the life of the woman - or girl, in the case of the 9 year old who has been brutally raped.

We already have prisons full to bursting with people that we don't want to deal with. Drug addicts, drunk drivers, pot smokers and other "criminals" who need help in order to live and become a productive member of society.

We don't want to deal with the problems so we shut people away in prison to the point that we allow murderers out of prison in order to house them. And now you think that incarcerating women who consider abortion is an acceptable answer to the problem of unwanted and unplanned pregnancies. It is ludicrous and it is inhumane. And ignorant, did I mention ignorant? Because it surely is an ignorant idea.

And I'll tell you how ignorant these "pro-life" people are. They kill doctors who perform completely legal, life-SAVING, abortions. Kill them. How do you discuss this topic with them? You don't. They are completely irrational and ignorant and inhumane.

Cleo, you are SO right, it is about control. That's what gets me about religion. As I have stated before, I am a christian, but I am not religious. There is a huge difference. I believe that religion is all about control and it always has been. Religion has always been about controlling women. I believe that's the main reason so many people want to make abortion illegal. People can say whatever they want, but it's not about babies, it's about control. Women have fought long and hard for the rights that we have today. My mother and mother-in-law grew up in a time when women couldn't even wear pants to school. My mother wore pants to school once and got sent home. If we let the government make abortion illegal, we might as well all throw out our pants and start going back to only wearing dresses, because that will just be the start of it. Once they get control of abortion, they will start taking control over everything else women do. Outlawing birth control would be next on the list.

And since when is it ok to tell someone they aren't allowed in church?? The Bible that I read states thou shalt no judge, for you shall also be judged.

Since parents make the decisions for their children, they should be the ones to go to prison if the baby gets aborted. Not the child.

Is the 9 yr. old's life in danger if she delivers the baby? If yes, then she should be allowed an abortion because everyone has a right to defend their own life.

I never told anyone that they are not allowed in church. That bishop didn't either. He said that he wasn't allowed to have communion at the church. I'm not a big fan of the Catholic chrch, but, they have their doctrines, and if you don't want to abide by them, no one forces anyone to attend there.

I. too, hate religion.

I'm not against any kind of birth control that doesn't kill the baby. Once the sperm meets the egg, a life is formed.

I also believe that evrey one has a right to defend himself and if the baby is going to kill the mother or her life is at stake, only then should an abortion be done.

patty: "If yes, then she should be allowed an abortion because everyone has a right to defend their own life."

You're in a small minority of anti-choice folks on this patty.

Sometimes reading the posts here make me wonder if some people just weren't mentally ready for WLS and needed more time with the bariatric team psychiatrist. Complaining about the limited drink/food choices early on... blah..blah...blah. The living to eat mentality really needs to go and be replaced with eating to live. JS

We have to remember that everyone moves at their own pace. For some it may be harder to adjust, people may have other factors at play that feed into the unhealthy relationship with food e.g. eating disorders, trauma. I'd hope those who you are referring to address this outside of this forum, with a professional.

This is a place to feel safe to vent, seek advice, hopefully without judgement.

Compassion goes a long way :)

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.
