Probably the millionth hair question but.....

Recommended Posts

I'm sure this question is on here somewhere but I'm going to be a pain and ask it again. If you have lost or are losing hair when did it start? I'm trying to see if there is average time. I am 3 months Out now and I haven't lost any extra hair. I hope I'm just "lucky" but I'm also prepared for it to go (I have a rather cute hair style picked out just in case.) I've been getting 100+ grams of Protein in since week 2. I eat 800 calories a day, take all my Vitamins including Biotin since before surgery. I honestly don't workout hardly at all (I know bad) but I have great weight loss so far And feel good. Things are shaping up as far as skin bounce back but I will start working out soon. Sometimes I wonder if Hair loss is worsened by the calories/nutrient restriction and then adding a lot of exercise on top of that makes you burn even more of the limited calories putting you further into a calorie deficient ....I don't know I'm not a hair expert ;) and that's not why I haven't worked out as much , it's a combo of busy/lazy. I'm on it, in fact I've started by wearing some lovely yoga pants today (it's a start just warming up for the real deal, baby steps...comfortable baby steps :)I'm just curious as to when it all started to come out if at all. Thank you in advance!

I started seeing hair on my brush at about 4-5 months post op. Now my cats an I seem to compete for hairballs that need to be swept often. I notice the loss. I'm about 90% meticulous in my vitamin/protein intake. At 7 months out no one at all has noticed any Hair loss except me. My surgeon says his patients start to regrow hair at about the 2 year mark. As always that seems sooo far away. But guess what!? That time will pass anyway without any effort on our part. So even if you have hair loss, it will balance out over time. The rest if the changes we get to go through sure are wonderful aren't they!!! High 5 to the good healthy intake of protein/nutrients!

@@2happily That's good to know thank you! I won't die if I lose it so I will just have to deal with it too if it happens.

@@wannaBthinsoon I've read that too. It's too bad they can't figure out the difference so people wouldn't have to lose it.

I started losing mine about 3-4 months out but it started to regrow immediately. Now at almost 10 mos out, I have a lot of 1-2 inch hairs. They're a lot harder to deal with than losing the hair, but I'm happy to know the hair is growing back.

I lost an incredible amount of hair...My stylist estimates about 40% loss. It was horrifying.

I started to lose at month 2 and it went thru to month 6 - the worst months were 4 and 5. I can remember styling my hair and crying as I looked on the floor - there was so much hair!!!!! I went to a short, layered cut that I continue to wear today. It's cute and I like it now.

My doc said that "anything that you lose due to surgery will grow back" she was right.
There's nothing you can do to top the loss, but she approved Biotin and Folic Acid for the regrowth.

I used a product called Toppik - this stuff is awesome and it works exactly like the videos on the website.

I made sure I get my Protein mins in.

I'm 14 months now and the Hair loss was traumatic while living thru it, was totally worth it.

I started some where between month 1 and 2. It stopped as quickly as it started in month 5. So glad it's over!! I hope you're one of the lucky ones that doesn't have to go through it :-)

@2happily Your surgeon says hair starts to regrow at the 2 year mark? Halleluiah! I started losing hair at about 5 months and at 15 months it is still coming out, although it doesn't seem to be getting much thinner. Over Christmas someone told me that I am pale and my hair is falling out, I must be sick. Well I'm pale because I'm a white girl who doesn't see much sun during the winter and yeah, my hair is not looking too hot. I would be SO happy if my hair started growing again- I've become a bit self-conscious about it although until the snotty comment at Christmas I had convinced myself no one else noticed.

@Avafern. Me thinks snotty comment about hair was because you looked fabulous.

I am one of those people who always had ALOT of hair, and Hair loss (prior to surgery). I did notice more than usual hair loss between months 5-9, but it has really slowed down (back to whatever normal loss was). I stopped taking Biotin because it didn't seem to be helping much. I'm trying to grow my hair out right now, tired of the short hair and its freaking cold outside!

@@McButterpants That's sounds traumatic but it sounds like you got a nice new style out of it. I have Folic acid in my cabinet maybe I should take it too. Thanks!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
