Unsuccessful Sleeve Stories!!!

not to be mean, I hope this discussion stays blank. Because that would mean that there were no unsuccessful stories. Bottom line, it is up to the person if they want the surgery to be successful or not.

Sorry your so sensitive. ..it's not being mean ..it's called reality..At the last minute people change their mind about surgery. Sometimes surgeons cancel surgery due to high blood pressure, fever, scar tissue or any other complications.

@@cruummbs lol oh I am not being "sensitive". I was just saying. At the end of the day, I worry about me and my success. Not going to focus on the unsuccessful stories of other people. Best of luck to ya!!

I don't think it's very encouraging to focus on the negative. Especially on a board that should be about support. I had an absolutely wonderful surgical course. Zero pain, gas, nausea, vomiting, Constipation. I walked in recovery and had no problem sipping Water. I say so repeatedly because I would like to encourage those who are worried or afraid that not everyone has horrible gas pains, etc.... Some of use have completely uneventful hospital course.

Hearing horrors stories might be the thing to scare someone off from a potentially life saving surgery.

Why not focus on the positive?

It's not about being negative it's called being knowledgeable about things that go on in life. You call it a horror story it could be a wake up call for someone else!

My friend surgery was rescheduled due to extremely high blood pressure. A lady did not follow through with her surgery in Mexico. Everybody has something to share!!

Sorry you don't watch the News.

There are possibilities of things complications and things going wrong with every surgery. If you had used the search feature you could have found quite literally hundreds of post with exactly that. To create a post just for that seems both useless and redundant.

However if you feel the need to perservate on pain & complications, carry on. I'll continue focusing on the positive.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
