I'm packing a light robe so my butt doesn't hang out, extra panties for if I stay longer than a day, normal toiletries like tooth brush, deodorant, etc, chap stick, maybe my kindle, phone charger. And just wear out the same thing I wear in. I don't plan on taking a crapton of stuff. I've seen some people suggest taking a small pillow bc it helps to hold it against you on the drive home.

I won't tell you what all I brought because it's embarrassing now, but what I *used* was: sweatpants for under my hospital gown, deodorant, baby wipes, chap stick, extra underwear, lotion, a soft front-close bra, baby Shampoo to take a shower to go home, my charger, and my own socks to layer under theirs because I couldn't get my feet warm.

Heating pad...or make sure the hospital will make one available. iPad. Chapstick. And your own pillow or two.

The pillows and heating pad are more important than the rest.

Heck i wore sweatpants there and then a Johnnie, crocs for ease of use, but they wouldn't allow clothes under the Johnnie, one because of the leg inflation things, and two i had thigh high te stockings on as well. so every time that sweet, young brand new out of school nurse came to check my bandages she got an eye full. lol Thankfully pain meds and age made me really not care. It was chilly under there....lol

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
