laurashelby 8 Posted January 23, 2015 I was just sleeved on Tuesday and found out right before surgery that my surgeon does a leak test with dye while I'm still under so if there's a problem they can go and fix it then. You know how all those people come in right before they wheel you back.....all introducing themselves? One was a surgical nurse whose job was to put a tube down my throat with dye so they could do the leak test. She wanted me to know that the dye was blue so not to freak out if I had a little blue on my tongue when i woke up. So therefore I was able to have ice chips and Water right away! I thought that was kind of cool
WL WARRIOR 692 Posted January 23, 2015 I had the leak test while I was under as well. However, nobody informed me of it. While I getting ready to go back home, it occurred to me that it never was done. I had to wait around an hour before someone could tell me why. I never noticed any blue dye or had ice chips either. laurashelby 8 Posted January 23, 2015 I'm sorry that they didn't tell you about it. She had told me sometimes it gets a little messy but fortunately my tongue wasn't blue
maddoggmedic 2 Posted January 23, 2015 My surgeon did one while I was under and afterwards before I got home. The dye was nasty tasting and I thought I would hurl but I pushed through.
Dajones 46 Posted January 23, 2015 That is VERY cool! I had mine the next day and had to swallow about 4 ounces of what tasted like unsweetened lemonade, which I promptly threw up.
