I'm interested in this as well. My surgery day is coming up and I have been putting chocolate Protein powder in my coffee and it's been..okay..but not great. But it helps getting my brain ready for it, so it's better than nothing.

I'm posting to subscribe. Does anyone do anything awesome with their Decaf? Lol.

This is really interesting -- that some docs don't want us to drink regular coffee because of Constipation concerns. If anything, I rely on my morning cup of regular coffee to get things moving, if you know what I mean.

I have been a heavy coffee (caffeinated - black) drinker all my life. I drank it up to midnight post-op. I was so worried I would go through withdrawals, headaches, etc. when I went off it in the hospital. I didn't have any, but I think it was because of the pain meds from surgery.

I tried a sip about 4 weeks out and had to spit it out, it tasted awful. I almost cried to think my coffee was gone. I tried again a week later and it wasn't quite as bad but no where near good. This last week (7 weeks out) I tried again and now it tastes good. I only have about 1/2 -3/4 cup in the morning, just black and it satisfies my zen coffee morning moments again.

I drink two cups of the high test every day; one with milk and one with half & half. Sometimes I drink a Click Mocha instead, because it's delicious.

This is an interesting thread for me. I was a coffee lover pre-op and worked hard to give it up but man do I miss it. My surgeon says no coffee, even Decaf, for still least 6 mo to lower risk of stomach ulcers. So interesting to see what others are doing and how other surgeons feel about the topic.

I had my 2 month follow-up with the dietician yesterday, and was cleared for regular coffee. She recommended no more than 2 cups/day.

Every doc seems different. At surgery he said one cup was ok but other docs same center said no to coffee. Out six months now and I enjoy an iced coffee with fat free sugar free creamer n sweet n low everyday. Come winter I'll switch back to tea.

When I drink it, I drink full caffeinated coffe, with half a sweet n low, mixed with my chocolate premiere Protein Shake mixed in it. I only do this once every couple weeks more as a change in pace.

Pre-op Newbie here, I just finished my supervised diet and I was told to use that time to cut back on my coffee intake. I love coffee and used to drink about 5-7 cups of it, strong dark and unsweetened. My nutritionist told me that there were a few coffee flavored Protein Shakes, but since I usually hate the taste of Protein shakes and sweet coffee, I figured it would be a no brainer that I wouldn't like this. Well my mom bought me some Click caramel flavor and I have to say it is rather tasty! It has really helped me with the mental struggle of having no coffee in the morning, and it has almost no "proteiny" taste. I recommend anyone who has been told they can't have coffee try this if they're missing their old caffeinated friend!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
