Hey yall I have a question. Do some of you who recently had the surgery find yourselves hating food? Eating has become such a chore. I never know what to expect when I eat. Maybe it goes down smooth, maybe it doesn't. Who is to say? I find myself getting overwhelmed on days like today when I have to force myself to eat. One thing that I loathe about the surgery is drinking. I hate sipping my ice cold Water. But damn if I won't sip Lolol you pay if you don't sip. How does water hurt? ???? anyway, I hope I'm not alone with the struggle with food. It feels like I had to dump my fiancé and now we are trying to be friends which hardly ever works lol. Thoughts?

I hate food. Most days I wish I didn't have to eat. I think it's fear... Will my food agree or disagree with me. ????

I see you said I hate sipping ice cold Water. I don't like ice cold water either and never drink it, It's always room temperature. And something else, I never drink plan water, don't like that too. I have to mix it up with something and I use an assortment of sugar free flavors to do it. There's dozens of them out there and you're sure to find a taste you like.

Before this surgery, I lived to eat and eat and binge and indulge.. now I just eat to live. It is strange how that switched both physically and mentally.

I felt the same way my first month. I hated drinking or eating anything. And threw up twice because something did not go down. But now I'm three months out and for the most part I know what I can eat that won't make me sick. I promise it gets easier. Also one tip: If you decide to introduce new foods try to eat them at home first, I made the mistake of attempting to eat something new in public then spent an hour in the bathroom throwing up.

I think it changes over time. I am 12 weeks out now. I only like room temp Water, and I'm very fussy about what kind. I also drink Herbal tea, mostly at night. It is easier for me to drink now. It is easier for me to eat, but not a lot easier. It all keeps changing.

Yep. I hate food. Nothing about having to eat is fun or exciting. It takes up to much time to have to eat. Forcing myself to eat only makes my hate it more. If I actually got hungry, then it would make it easier. Till then food sucks.

I fear and hate it. :( I eat and I am sick, I don't eat and I feel sick. Such a weird feeling. I have not found my medium ground yet with eat. I fear I am eating either too much and or too fast. I am thinking I ear too fast which makes me sick. Or things that get stuck.

What's really bad is the stuff I shouldn't be eating goes down easy (crackers, Pasta, cereal). Everything I should be eating (eggs and all meats) sit like a rock in my stomach if they don't come back up.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
