Hello everyone. I had my gastric slevectomy on Dec 3. I was very gung-ho about the possibility of having this awesome opportunity until I went to the orientation. I came home and cried. I was NOT having this done. It was more than what I was ready for. I mean come on, no more tacos??? Well I have a great supporting family and they reminded me of the reason I wanted it in the first place. I did have the surgery and I can't say that it has been easy, by far not easy. But everyday gets a bit easier and I see remarkable changes in my weight. I started at 280 lbs and today at 214. I have to say one thing... I still have very little energy even though I am working and when I can exercise. I'm working on that as much as I can. Just a thought.....I can buy a new small size swim suit for summer!!!!

I had my surgery December 29 and I know what you mean by it hasn't been easy. In the beginning I was like what the heck did I get myself into. Things have gotten better much better. Like you I still get tired. However the fatigue is not nearly as bad as it was in the beginning. In the beginning I would get out of breath and tired just from taking a shower. I started the process at 320 the day of surgery I was 292 and I'm now at 269. It's funny because I don't realize the change unless I look in the mirror very quickly. Hope all goes well for everyone I look forward to hearing about the progress

Thank you everyone. I do take B Complex as prescribed by my Dr. I know in days and weeks to come it will all be OK! My food intake....1/4 cup and I am so hating meat. Fish is tolerable if I can get creative with seasonings. I can finally eat eggs. Good luck to everyone. We will ALL be gorgeous in the end. Knock outs!!!

I was sleeved January 5, 2015. When i enrolled in the program I was 278 lbs. I lost 20 on my own before surgery. My scale this morning said 224. I must be the exception because i feel like this has been extremely easy. The liquid diet hasn't been so bad, I have only had very mild pain, no reflux, and my energy level is good. The most challenging part so far has been that I still must cook for my family while only drinking shakes. Not exactly torture. I see the nutritionist Monday and will graduate to soft protiens. I am hopeful for the future and am dedicated to change. I feel like most of the things i read about failure is due directly to not changing habits and eating whatever they feel like. Follow the plan and you can succeed. Congrats to all that succeed and good luck to all those making the leap!

Great Hunny! I find it strange to see so many different post op programs through different doctors. I see people doing liquid diets for two weeks preop and people drinking Protein Shakes postop. I went through Kaiser Permanente which is a huge medical foundation. My doctor had me do a low cal low fat high Protein diet right up to surgery and no protein shakes because of the cal. It has work very well. BUT I did order protein replacement powder drink and won't tell my doctor. I do one shake a day and that's working well too. And still losing weight. My energy is starting to come back.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
