I am getting banded on June 6th and honestly I am beginning to get scared. I am tolerable to a lot of pain, but after reading some of these forums about the port hurting soooo bad, is kinda freakin me out a bit. I have been on the all liquid diet now for 6 days and have lost 7lbs so far. It has been hard especially with all of the bbq's this weekend to Celebrate Memorial Day, but I am fighting to be strong. I just keep telling myself how much this surgery is costing me and it helps to fight the urges. My liquid diet consists of 3-4 Protein Shakes a day, sugarfree Jello, broth. Is there anything else out there that we can have, because I'm getting bored of the same stuff everyday.:help:

I can understand your concern with the port pain but keep in mind that it will be well worth it in the end. I am starting my pre-op on June 1st instead of the 6th which is the date my Doctor gave me, just to try to lose a couple extra pounds for myself. I am excited about the surgery too with the exception of the tube being placed down my throat but I will be sleep and my husband said he will be with me all the way so that helps. Did you try those sugar fee pops I've been reading about? Check out the Pre-op and Post op diet forum they had a few extra items listed. Keep me posted on your progress.:)

Honestly, I didn't find the port pain to be that bad. Your doctor will send you home with some pain meds that help a lot. I would describe the port area to be more uncomfortable rather than painful. The worst part is when you go from lieing down to sitting up.

Yeah, this liquid diet is a little...well...boring to say the least! It's not forever tho. I got some light minute made lemonade and sugar free popcicles. Blend one popsiscle and about 4oz of lemonade for an icee. It's pretty yummy. My problem is all the sweet/cold stuff. I am REALLY craving some savory, hot food...something I can CHEW...the broth is getting OLD! I've read of several people chewing food and spitting it out. I don't think I'm strong enough to spit it out! So, I'm staying away from it! OK...rambling now! Best of luck to you!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
