I bought a pair of cotton capris - about a size bigger and drawstring to wear afterwards. You don't want anything tight on your abdomen at all.

Hi Leslie Lee,

I am 5 days post op now and although I'm feeling great I find it more comfortable in sweats still. Good luck Wednesday, you'll do great.

Yep, sweats worked best for me plus two button front tops. If you don't have sweats then take a pair of elastic waist band pants. If you're like me you might be tempted to over pack. Whenever I go on a trip I always pack way to many clothes. But trsut me, this trip is different. You really don't need more... less is better. For the most part you're resting or going for the odd walk... that's it.

Have a great trip! I'm so excited for you!!

All I brought was some comfy pajamas, and as my 'leaving the clinic' outfit, some huge sweatpants, tank top, and a zip up hoody. You'll be fine! :)

I took drawstring waist cotton capri sets. It would pay to take some flipflops as well. I was really glad I took my slip on Ked tenny shoes. The bending to put on and tie sneakers would have been tough. Good Luck!

Sweats, Ts and loose fitting pants. Don't forget, you can't lift more than 10 lbs so your suitcase should be small. You need one change of clothes at most. But supply your hotel room with bottled Water as the hotels charge an arm and a leg. You will be groggy and sleep a lot, but when you are up every hour to walk and cough, you will need Fluid. Doddie

I personally lived in a satin night gown for the first 5 days after surgery... and if i had to actually get dressed i was in loose jogging pants and a t shirt...

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
