I'm so hungry, but eating is a chore!

Recommended Posts

On Monday, I will be 12 weeks post op, and eating is a chore for me. I get so hungry, and then I smell wonderful-smelling food, but then when I eat, my stomach just feels odd and uncomfortable. There have been many times that, even though I felt really hungry, I would just drink a Protein Shake because it's easier than eating actual food. I chew the heck out of the food so there aren't large chunks going into my stomach. I probably don't eat as slowly as I should, but I try. I've read many people on here that say they are able to eat whatever they want with no problems. So, at this point in my journey, should I be feeling better while eating or will it be this way forever and this is just what I signed up for when I had the surgery? Just to clarify, this is one of the best decisions I've ever made in my life, and I have no regrets. Even if this is how my life will always be when it comes to food, I wouldn't change my decision at all!

Try using the EAT SLOWER app. Once you can eat slower it won't be such a chore.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
