I have to have a sleep study due to my neck size. Has anyone had to have one of these? What was your experience like? I definitely didn't account for this in the process! :( Any feedback would be helpful!

Thanks!

I had a sleep study. It was pretty simple. I had to stay the night twice. Once to determine if I had sleep apnea. The 2nd was to calibrate the CPAP machine. I had to stay the night at the facility - it was just an office that had 5 or 6 bedrooms. They were like hotel rooms with a bed, tv and shower/bathroom.

I had to wear these tiny little sensors they glued to my scalp (no hair cutting involved! :P ), chest arms and legs. Each sensor had a little wire that ran back to a central box (about the size of a shoe box) that lay next to me on the bed.

There was a camera monitoring my movements in my sleep.

After they wired me up, I was left alone. I watched TV, read a little and went to sleep like normal.

There was a buzzer to call for assistance if I needed help getting out of bed with all the wires. But I didn't have any problems with the wires or the sensors.

The 2nd night (a couple of weeks later), I was wired up again and they put the CPAP machine on me. It was the best night of sleep I'd gotten in several years! I felt so good in the morning, I couldn't wait to start using my new CPAP daily.

10 months after VSG, I'd lost 130lbs and no longer needed the CPAP. ****Does Happy Dance****

I just did my sleep study on Thursday it was pretty simple. I was able to do it at my house, the tech came and hooked me up and picked the equipment up the next day.

I am a terrible sleeper anyway. But I don't think it's apnea related. I hope it goes well and no cpap is needed!

I had no idea that I had such severe sleep apnea. I thought I was so tired because of my weight. but I was tired because I stopped breathing around 40 times each hour.

For the past 7 weeks I have slept and I feel really good. My surgeon requires all patients to have the test and it is one of the many blessings of my life that I had the sleep study.

My sleep study was pretty simple. Like above, it was done at a facility with about 5 private rooms. I had my own shower/bathroom. List of wires were attached beforehand. Nothing painful involved. I had to ask if it was ok to take my Ambien because I couldn't fall asleep naturally! Turns out, I wake up 23 times an hour which turns out to be mild apnea.

@

My sleep study was the same as many have posted above. It was my neck and weight that caused me to stop breathing several time a night. After weight loss with my sleeve. I was able to get rid of the CPAP machine. sleep is a wonderful thing now.

I was able to do my sleep study at home, due to having an infant. It was awful. I do not sleep well when I am uncomfortable. I would not have been able to sleep at the sleep center.

I hooked myself up, nobody had to come do it, they told me how to hook it all up.

I've had three sleep studies - one to see if I have sleep apnea, one to get the right pressure for my CPAP and then another because my sleep doc suspected I might be narcoleptic. They're really not a big deal, mostly just boring and somewhat annoying. If you think you might have trouble sleeping at all, ask your doc for Ambien. Also, they don't need you to sleep for 8 hours or anything, just enough to see if you stop breathing and for how long.

I had my sleep study weds night. They ended up doing a split study so the 2nd half of the test I had the cpap hooked up. I went to my follow up today and I have severe OSA. I'll get my cpap next week!

Surgery is one month from today!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
