WWho, besides me, is SICK and tired of all the diet center commercials?

Recommended Posts

Seriously! It's every single commercial!! If it's not about a diet center, it's about a diet supplement, or a super duper magic somethingerother, where if you BUY into it, you'll lose massive amounts of weight....GUARANTEED!!!! I'm thinking about quitting TV and just sticking with Netflix. The commercials just make me mad. They RUINED me. Those diet centers did. They made me yo-yo for 30 years. GRRR Ok, I'm done now. Thanks for letting me vent.

It's not just the TV. Back when I was a regular at the Y, January was awful: no parking, crowded locker room, etc. once February rolled around everything started to go back to normal.

EVERY year [heck, every darn week!!] I used to wonder, should I try this one or that one [diet plan, gym, etc]

NOW...Those commercials don't bother me a BIT! Last year this time, I was only 4 weeks or so post-op. NOW--one year later--I hear them and say, THANK GOD I don't have to worry about ANY of that anymore!!!!!!!!!" And I want to tell everyone, "free yourself of all that angst. WLS worked fine for me and it likely will for you, too."

The ads will be a part of life, so don't even trip about them. They are no longer your personal concern. Don't trip out about things you cannot change. Also, as others said, they'll die down soon.

PS: If you need something to focus on, pray for me that I can get off these last 20 pounds! I admit I got comfortable and complacent after I reached Onederland in May; and into the 180s after that. But I want to get to ~160-165 by the end of March, perhaps.

There have been a few shows on the "latest" diet fads. I've watched a few of them, including brain stimulation. I think I am more amused knowing that I have tried and failed so many diet fads. When they are over, I just shake my head and laugh. It's been 3 months since watching them. Before, I would hang on every word and think maybe it would be worth trying. Now, I can't stand to watch them, let alone hear people talk about them.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
