Are you looking for the BariatricPal Store? Go now!

Been missing you all. . . and some NSV's

Recommended Posts

Hi, everyone. My board usage has been very sporadic of late because I am studying for an exam for a higher credential. And the studying has been so rewarding in and of itself that I am now planning to go back to school for another master's degree! The plans are a little vague of yet. I know I wouldn't have done either of these things pre-band. I've been eligible to take this exam for 14 years, but I never had the ambition, the vision, or the confidence to do so. Losing weight with the band has allowed me to re-discover my strengths. And I always thought I was too lazy to go back to school, but I realize I wasn't too lazy, only too tired. The band has given me so much more energy.

And just to top it off: I bought new clothes and I bought a pair of XL pants - not a 1,2,3, or4 X, but an XL - in a regular store! I'm so amazed.

So anyway, if my posts are more now-and-then for a while, I know you'll understand. It's just me, living my brand new life. But I do miss all your posts. I feel like I know so many of you.

I'm still getting used to the new board format. Why is there a red dot by my name?

Nancy

Wow, Nancy! You are ambitious now! Congrats on the new direction and the new size. ;)

The red dot is you being active, I think. They don't want you to get confused about who you are! :P A green dot is someone online and a blue dot is someone not online.

Wow, Nancy, another Masters! Now, that's an NSV to brag about! I'm so glad that everything is going so well for you! Congratulations on the regular clothes sizes, too! Super job!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
