JamieLogical 8,710 Posted January 22, 2015 I have Excellus BCBS here in Rochester, NY as well and I had no such luck. They required that I had a BMI of 40+ for the last five years and I had previously lost weight "on my own" three years ago, which put me well under a BMI of 40 for a while. Unfortunately, as people often do, I regained most of the weight and was back over 40 BMI when I began to consider WLS. I would have had to stay fat for another 2-3 years to qualify. I felt like I was being punished for having at least TRIED to do it on my own. I ended going to Mexico and paying for my VSG out of pocket.

Nyvsg 1 Posted August 24, 2015 Hello my name is Shannon! I'm in the beginning process of vsg surgery at highland hospital and I have Excellus! I've been looking so hard to find someone with Excellus because I have so many questions! Like about how long the process was from first seminar to surgery, how long it took to get accepted, how long you had to be a nutritionist assisted diet etc. Would it be possible if we could email or fb message or talk on here somehow? I won't take too much of your time and it will seriously mean the world to me!! 1 ShaynaC reacted to this
