I have a heater blanket at my desk at work... Though even at my highest weight, I was always cold.

I am loving my fleece lined leggings for under my pants! I no longer go out without 2 layers of clothes on. I also keep a portable heater in the bathroom and turn it on for 15 minutes before my shower and don't turn it off until after I am dressed again.

I'm freezing all the time! I keep a heater on in my office and now my coworkers refer to my office as "the sauna", but I'm still cold!

Soccer socks. Best sock ever to wear under jeans! They come at least to your knee. I have fleece pj pants but I put a light weight pair on under them. My hands are always cold. Thank God for hoodies with pockets. I have a few times in the last month wore a tee, hoodie, wool coat, and another heavy duty coat over the wool coat. I look like the pillsbury dough boy but hey! I'm warm. I also wear 2 pair of gloves. Mind you I'm in an area where we can have subzero weather.

I take it that being cold is not uncommon. Ever since the temp dropped below 60F, I've worn at least 2 layers, if not 3. I just bought a pair of fleece tights, and am tempted to go back and get a few more pairs. They are amazing!

I'm really looking forward to warmer weather.

Quick question, how long does it take the body to adjust/normalize to the loss of insulation? A year? two? never?

I have a heated throw blanket I got at costco that I keep at my desk. That way I am not heating up the entire room.

We all have getting cold incommon. For me it is getting better, but I do dress differently. Hasanyne else tried the high end poly/spandex inter wear? Patigonia makes what they call R1. Its spendy but works well. Dulueth (spelling) trading makes a close seconnd which is affordable.

I have experienced this too but no one is answering why this is a symptom after surgery. I asked my surgeon and all I got was "well are you running a fever?"

Yup. That's the kind of stupid canned answers I am getting from my surgeon too. I got real pissed off this morning over his response to my suffering with real bad reflux after the surgery. And you're right, why don't skinny people complain about being cold all the time? I have been cold from the surgery since I woke up from it. The only logical explanation I can come up with is carb death. These first few weeks, months where we are mostly on liquids and not eating carbs might be why. Before the surgery I was eating carbs and that is what I was burning for fuel. And maybe that's what keeps us warm. After surgery our bodies are burning the fat stored and we are not getting as many carbs if any. So this is the only thing I can come up with. Maybe as smaller amounts of carbs are introduced this subsides . I don't know.

I came across this article: http://www.boxingscene.com/weight-loss/30698.php

It seems that their could be several reasons for this happening, but first and foremost, the body is losing weight rapidly and the temp regulation needs time to catch up.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
