The dreaded "in-between" stage in clothing sizes - HELP!

Recommended Posts

Hi All -

I am a petite clothing size, since I'm 5' 4", and I'm at that weird in-between-sizes stage, between sizes 2X and 3X, depending on the style and fit of the clothing in question. However, the "average" sizes always wind up being WAY too long on me, so it's hard to get clothes!!! What's a girl to do??! Any advice??

Thank You,

Christina

I'm in between a 16 & 14 and having been toying with the idea of going to a tailor. I just don't have a desire to spend money on clothing I won't be able to wear in a month...tailor or not. So I bought cardigans during old navy's big sale to go over too big shirts & dresses. And I bought two belts to cinch my pants. It'll do for a month or two. Then the cute spring stuff will be out :)

In the checkout line area of old Navy they have little elastic doodads that pull in the waist of too-big pants.

I found I was able to stretch out my time on larger pants with these really well.

I think it's called something like "Hollywood Secrets".

Another added option unless your picky and $ is no option on buying clothes try the good will or a second hand shop. Sometimes u can find a large variety of clothes that might just work for you. If not it can be fun trying on smaller sizes. You might come across a good deal on something that's a tiny bit snug knowing that your shrinking and bam in a couple if weeks it fits perfect! Hugs of support on your happy shrinking!

Retail Goodwill stores. I've started buying my blue jeans there ($5.99 in Florida). I've gone down two sizes in 10 weeks and refuse to buy new clothes until I stabilize. I've also pulled out my sewing machine and figured out how to take in my dress slacks etc.

I did have to buy new bras and underwear. Amazing how 39 lbs can change your sizes. But its all good. Try the Goodwill or consignment stores.

Good luck on your weight loss journey.

I'm 5'3". I'm getting my clothes at Goodwill because I'm going through them so fast, and some of them I have to have the lengths altered. Should only cost you about 7-8 bucks per pair.

I wouldn't pay to take them in, but I would pay for the right length. I feel good when my clothes fit.

@@ProjectMe You've lost 76 lbs since December? Wow..good for you.

Can you tell me what your daily intake is (menu if you will) I had my surgery on Nov. 24, and I am struggling at 30 lb loss and started at pretty much what you did.

I get busy during the day and find myself not eating and then at night I can only eat a very little, I'm not even getting my Water in.

Please help me...If I can get a good plan (menu) I will do everything..but kinda confused.

I understand. I order my pants online because I'm 5'10 and very few stores carry Longs or Talls. I hem my petite daughter's pants all the time unless she gets lucky and finds "Short". :)

Pre-op I was able to drink the Protein shakes, but now...I can't even swallow..don't know why...I try to drink my Water..but never have been a "fluid" drinker...I could go all day without drinking a thing..I knew that was going to be my challenge and still is.

Don't have a problem with yogurt or eating meats (steak, roast beef, turkey) but sometimes at work..I get so busy and I'm not hungry so I don't stop to think about eating. I'm guessing by now I have a Vitamin deficiency, everything I eat comes back out and not from my mouth..and in watery form...I know that sounds gross..but no other way of saying it. I know I am losing..but need to get proper Vitamins for it to be a healthy loss. Speaking of loss, I do have a slight hair loss issue..but not so dramatic I can't handle.

Am I doomed?

If you get the fruity flavored shakes, you might try making them into Jello... Drinking fluids has never been a problem for me. hair loss can be deficiency of Protein, essential fatty acids, b complex, and I'm sure 85 gajillion other things.. but I think it would behoove you to get a full blood work up from your PCP or surgeon.

If your body is deficient in necessary nutrients, it's going to hold on to every last thing it gets.. even if that just ends up being calories.

And if you're dehydrated, it can slow down your metabolism something like 20 - 30 %.

So I wouldn't say you're doomed, but I would say it is probably best to go for a turn around in the way you're doing things.

How long does it take for what you eat to Water out the other end?

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
