Inizio 32 Posted January 20, 2015 I'm 2 weeks post-op today. I just started on mushy foods. I have the goals for 64 oz of Water and 60 g of Protein, but is there a guideline for calories at this point? I haven't see anything for that. When I had the lapbad, I was eventually limited to 1200 calories a day. Any ideas? Thanks!
catdaddy 232 Posted January 20, 2015 According to my WLS guidance there's no limit. It just says aim to get you 60 grams of Protein in and 64 ounces of Water.< /p>
aelovelady 243 Posted January 21, 2015 Should be 300-400 calories per day!
Moxy 58 Posted January 21, 2015 im a year out and they want me at 800-900 per day. at your stage id focus on getting Water and Protein in. you wont have much more room beyond that to worry about getting enough calories or trying to hit a certain amount. SuzeMuze 338 Posted January 21, 2015 Ohhhh my... this is another one of those times where I feel the need to chime in and say it's a conversation/question to have with your NUT! Here on the forums you'll see all kinds of opinions and advice but every single one of us is different- my NUT told me something different than anything that's been said here so far. I was told (among other things) it DOES matter how much and what you eat- if you eat too much fat and/or carbs it can slow your weight loss down significantly, which I believe from experience. Additionally, exercising like crazy doesn't "earn" you those calories back- in fact, too much exercising can also slow your weight loss down. No one will know you better than your NUT through this process- please trust his/her judgement to find the exact amounts that will be your personal "magic formula". athena3127 199 Posted January 21, 2015 I agree. As all Drs and nuts have different plans for everyone to follow it's best to ask your dr or nut. For me personally I am just now 11wks post op from the sleeve. I had an apt with the nut last week because i had that exact question. She advised me that my goal should be to get in 1000-1100 calories. I am at a stall and focus first on Protein and liquids and I am simply unable to get near that goal I do however remain positive and stay focused on the goal set before me. In reality I am getting more like 500calories per day if I'm lucky. I think I have had 2 days that I was able to get in maybe 800. Calories but those days were exceptions to the rules. My sleeve is sensative and does not corporate even though I am following the rules. So give our dr/nut a call for pointers on where they want "YOU" to be with your caloric intake and consumption. bellabloom 2,467 Posted January 21, 2015 True probably your nut is best. Your still in such early days. I'd say if you can come close to getting your Protein in your doing great. !!!
Djmohr 6,965 Posted January 21, 2015 It his is a great question and can be frustrating at the same time. I am 3.5 months post op and doing great! I saw my bariatric nurse for a post op check in last week. She told me to focus on Protein and Water and not to pay attention to calories. This assumes that you are eating high protein, low carbs or shall I say the right carbs, and low fat. I personally use my fitness pal and I do track all of these to ensure I do not end up off track. I have learned that not eating enough and exercising too much will actually cause a weight loss stall. My opinion is you have to track and monitor or it can easily get away from you. You should absolutely work with your surgical team to understand their approach.
