Yes. Every day is another day in the artic tundra, as far as my body is concerned. Meanwhile, my husband is sweating bullets.

I was a year out on Dec 11 - and YES i am FREEZING all the time. Its horrible - i spend more time trying to get warm then actually being warm. So until i get the hubby to move to FL I have invested in some warm clothing items. One i got a very long downfilled coat - i didnt want to spend this kind of money but i looked long and hard and found one that was good up to 20 below - and you know it really does keep me warm (also got very warm mittens - YES mittens they have glove fingers inside) . I got some wool socks (dont put in dryer) these puppies cost over $20 (FOR ONE PAIR OF SOCKS!!!) i asked for them on my christmas list - but WELL worth the $$. i also invested in the little hand & feet warmers (you know what hunters use) yes they have been a LIFE saver! I have not bought yet waiting for a good sale... but they have jeans with flannels inside them. Here is to staying warm!!

I'm 57 and lived my pre-op life feeling constantly hot. My sleeve surgery was Nov. 12, 2014 and now I spend all my days trying to stay warm. And......I live in Florida. I now wear socks, Under Armour and never sit down without a fleece blanket around me. I've looked on the internet and the best answer is the loss of the fat layer directly below the skin surface that used to act as insulation. I'm down 39 lbs since surgery and I know it's all in my feet and that fat layer!

Yes I do and it worries me, not because I cannot manage it (its not cold where I live) but it tells me my metabolic rate is slow now and that means if I was eating normally I would tend to gain weight.

Yes. We are shedding our insulation.

@Jersrose43 My mom said she got them a d i c k's sporting good store - she said you have to actually ask them for it, because they keep them locked up.

I dont see the pair that i have on line. But here is a link for d**k's they range from $9 to $30 - the ones i have my mom said were $27 retail (she got them on black friday & paid $20)

I'm actually really looking forward to this side effect! I have MS which causes me to constantly feel warm. This would be a pleasant change as Id much rather be cold than hot.

I've always been able to get away with wearing the lightest coat in the dead of Winter because I was always too warm. Had to sleep with a fan on at night to try and stay cool. Kept my office as cold as possible with a fan.

Now, I wear a sweater in the office, slippers at home, never have the fan on and actually have to zip up my jacket! I'm not quite halfway to my goal weight. I will probably end up walking around clutching a heater by the end but it will still be worth it!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
