You could not tell me I was not going to continue to love chocolate and vanilla after this surgery. No way....my fantasies involve chocolate falling from the sky! I didn't go too crazy and I loved my pre-op chocolate shakes and I made sure I had plenty on hand. But fast forward to today, 5 days post-op and I cannot even stand to look at them. Luckily, I had been on this site long enough to go get some Syntrax nectar Fuzzy Navel. Yum.

I would never drink fruity stuff before. I hope my tastes change back soon...or I'll be selling Premier Protein and powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury on Craigslist!

Yes, that is one of the hazards of stocking up before surgery. Your taste buds change. After surgery I also thought chocolate Protein Shakes did not taste good. As my meal plan progressed I was eventually able to get most of my Protein requirement from meals and no longer drink protein shakes. But I do drink during the winter a warm glass of cocoa (no sugar added). And it's very enjoyable.

I agree! I bought everything in bulk before surgery and ended up having to give everything away because it all made me sick afterwards. I can still drink the Premier Protein chocolate flavored shakes, but I almost gagged on those because I get sick of the milky taste. I agree the syntax nectar Protein is great added to your water bottle. I also add a packet of Crystal light to sweeten the deal. I wish it had as much protein as the shakes, but it's better than nothing! What has bothered me the most are the Vitamins. I bought all gummy vitamins before my surgery on recommendation from my doctors office, and enjoyed them. Fast forward to after surgery, and the Gummy texture and flavor made me completely gag. I had to give all those away to my sister, LOL.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
