I'm surprised how much this comes up. Not to be judge mental- but you know that weed increases your appetite right?

Do you think maybe now is the time to quit for good? It's not really addictive physically and it's pretty hard not to eat while high. I think quitting before your surgery is a really really good idea. Bypass is very different than the sleeve, you cannot get away with as much. You don't want to be smoking after having this done, trust me. The munchies would feel like torture to me.

Weed slows you down, basically makes you fat and lazy!! (When your high anyway). I know from experience how weed affects people and their lives. Maybe you should take this opportunity to turn a corner and stop using, get on the right track with your energy and lifestyle?

I don't know much about you, maybe you have chronic pain or something like that. But I can't think of many reasons to smoke weed. It makes people depressed and apathetic. I'm from hum olds country the weed capital of America so I know a lot about this!!!

Quit that shite!!

Plus they urine test you in the hospital and if you pee dirty you may have an issue!

You'll be fine.

Munchies depend on strain.

Addiction is a potential issue as far as transfer addictions go but not likely.

A topical salve and acupuncture can help with the pain just a effectively.

You will likely need less as the weight comes off....Good luck.

Wow ppl really Need to get informed on cannabis . Typical judgemental statement . The munchies that's hilarious . Read up on cannabis and it's health benefits before passing judgement.

Sorry if I seem judgemental. I have no problem with recreational occasional use. I have smoked weed before and well- it have the munchies!!!! Plenty of times. Like I said, I'm from humbolt.

Ives seen a lot of people spend there lives surrounded by a haze and while I'm all for legalization and fun, and I do agree there are some therapeutic effects it is my personal opinion that weed is not a good thing to use daily. I'm entitled to the way I see it aren't i?

I've seen a lot of people live unproductive lives because of mj. Just my thoughts.

I'm sorry that you have arthritis. I hope it gets better for you!!! I know what it's like to live with chronic pain.

I'm a smoker but have decided to stop 3 months before my surgery to focus on my eating and to clear it out of my system so I don't test positive for it prior to surgery. I asked my team about smoking before and after and while they said they don't know for certain if weed is tested for prior to surgery, they recommend stopping just because quite simply, its still smoking (unless of course you consume it in other ways). I don't plan on not ever smoking again, however, I will wait prob a year or more after surgery before attempting because I do get the munchies pretty bad. I've also smoked some where I didn't get the munchies so it does depend on the strain. I used to smoke every day to deal with pain but physical activity and stretching can usually manage my pain. Now I just smoke occasionally because I enjoy it.

I had surgery Tuesday and got high as fuck Monday night . Everything was good

Only concern is when can I start again . Cause there's a big difference in pre & post Op

It's all in the way you heal. Smoking causes vasoconstriction which prevents proper blood flow hence causing ischemia tissue death. So its not worth taking a chance. And you really do want that pouch to heal!

Bwaaahhhhhhaaaaaaaahhhhhhhaaaaaaa.

Damn, I just hurt my hernia laughing.

Thank you for this admission. I wish my employer would give me a pass on any future drug tests. I wonder if I convince them to give me sleeve pass on weed.

It's been twenty plus years since I've had any. The day I retire, though........gonna smoke my back out for a few days.

Damn. You've inspired me. I'm gonna crank up the bluetooth speaker and put on some Toby Keith. "I'll never smoke weed with Willy again........." (live version).

Dub. You so cracked me up. If it were me, I would wait the year to let that little pocket heal. Also, my surgeon said there were three ways to screw up this surgery: (1) smoking, (2) smoking, and (3) smoking. I believe he was talking about tobacco. I think the other ways of consuming mj besides smoking would bypass the surgeon's problems with this.

I don't indulge often, but it never increased my appetite which is why I find it weird that so many get the "munchies". I am actually considering it for treatment of other chronic conditions I have (I am on a ton of meds with crazy side affects). When in doubt, check with your doc. But I am sure you'll be fine.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
