@@bellabloom , I can't agree more. I had surgery over the kids winter break, when they went back they discussed what they did during their time, my baby, 6 yrs old, said "my mom had surgery so she can live longer" Right then I knew I made the right choice!

My son looked at me with pride the other day ( he is six) and said mommy your looking skinny! He is my angel and I would do,anything for him and I think it boosts their confidence when they see us feeling and looking confident. The love us and they need us to be strong and healthy. Whether that is being confident being overweight or being thinner, what matters is that we are able spend time with them and show our strength of life and our presence in their lives. I was so,depressed and messed up eating junk all the time, food running my life it was taking me away from him and now I am fee!!!

So many good ones have already been said. For me, I plan to have plastics done. I cannot wait until I have lost enough weight and stabilize so that I can get that done.

Then, I will look forward to shopping for clothes in normal stores including bathing suits.

I have a whole list I've made for encouragement goals after surgery rather than focusing on the numbers so much.

First one is being able to carry laundry upstairs from my basement without getting out of breath!

Getting off BP meds

having normal blood sugars (i'm prediabetic)

less foot and knee pain - I may not ever be able to run again due to lots of arthritis but I will settle for more comfortable walking

Being able to hike parts of the Appalachian Trail near us (I've done some but not for a few years as I got fatter)

cycling on the C&O canal towpath

snow skiing (haven't been in 20 yrs)

horseback riding (haven't been in 25 yrs, since I first started gaining)

Hi Everyone,

When I get to my ideal weigh I'm hoping that I can feet into knee high boots. I've never been able to wear boots hence they never zipped up, my calves are to FAT.

Have a beautiful day

Prada.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
