That would be a good problem to have for me. Lol my mom had the problem with her bypAss, but it stopped when she started adding in some sweet stuff. Weight loss stopped immediately.

It has happened but it is a rare problem. If a person has a complication might prevent adequate intake. If a person develops an emotional aversion to eating, it could happen. I think about 99 percent of us have to work to get to goal and stay there. I am 3 years out and just don't see this as a major worry.

I just had this discussion with my surgeon at a one year follow up visit. I've lost 145 pounds and I am about 13 pounds past my pre-established goal. Weight loss has slowed dramatically for me.

He indicated that your body makes the decision for you. If you follow the plan for 12-18 months, the body will settle into it's comfort zone. You can push the limits through a strict diet and exercise plan but unless you can maintain that level, there might be some small weight gain; even when sticking to the diet plan. And that is the body adjusting to where it is most comfortable.

I found that my body just kind of settled at a weight that seems best for it. I can comfortably sit at 140 (which is 5 pounds below my goal weight) with no real dieting effort. If I want to push it, I can go lower, but I feel like my body just kind of found it's natural weight and maintaining it is definitely manageable.

I had a hard time stopping, I ended up 17 lbs BELOW goal and my size 4's were getting big. After talking to my dietitian, I started adding calories back in to get back UP to where I wanted to be. Who'd have even thought I'd need to gain weight......it took several months, but I did manage to get back into the low - mid 140's, still below Dr. Davidson's goal, but it give me the "pad" I wanted. I've been maintaining at or below goal for over 4.5 years now!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
