I`m so ready for this, my weight really is my misery!

Recommended Posts

Hey all,

1st time posting but have been lurking for a few weeks. This place has made me feel so much better about making this decision, so many great people on here that are so supportive.

I only need to have my Psychiatrist visit which is the is Wed Jan 21st then its in the hands of the insurance company, hopefully it wont be any issue as i`m a 38 year old with heart disease, sleep apnea and a spine fusion.

I was worried that people would think i was taking the easy way out doing this, being lazy and not willing to put in the effort needed to lose weight. But its not that, ive got to the size i am which is my fault but im now at the point where due to my back and knees i cant exercise like i need to due to the weight.

I`m ready for a new life, i want to live and thats my motivation. I`m hoping for an end of Feb appointment with Dr Donovan Teel at Miami Valley Hospital.

Fingers crossed and cant wait to share what i will make my success story!

Dan :)

I still follow a low carb, high Protein diet. I'm getting ready to go to the gym right now for my 40 minute circuit training workout. I drink 60 oz of Water a day. Which part if this is easy? ;)

No, really. It will be one of the best decisions you ever made. Good luck and keep us posted!

Congrats on making the first steps in the journey. You can't worry about what other people will think. You can never change that. First of all, you don't have to tell anyone you don't want to tell. Most of the people in my life don't know I've had surgery. Secondly I think you'll find that people will be so inspired by your weight loss journey that it won't matter how you get there. Good luck to you!

I totally understand. My weight has become such a burden, physically, and emotionally. I found out insurance approved the sleeve, Jan 9, so I am waiting on the Surgical Center to call and schedule my surgery. I am going insane waiting. I need to get on that losers bench. I have kids I want to live a long life for. I want to enjoy my life, rather than spend it wishing I felt good enough to do anything, or wonder how much walking will be involved. I am done being FAT.

Congratulations! And it's certainly not the easy way out. You'll still have to decide what goes into your body post-op. That won't change.

Make as many positive lifestyle changes as you can along the way to surgery! It will make post-op living that much easier and the weight loss that much more successful!

Best of luck!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
