Hi I had a wisdom tooth out two days ago and was given codeine to cope with pain. I took the recommended dosage of two tablets and ended up having the most intense stomach pains (sort of like gall bladder attack).

Should I have taken less? It went away after awhile but it's not something I'd like to repeat.

I'd call the doc and ask for a different pain reliever. Ultram works well and since this pain mgmt but you may need something that is an anti-inflammatory and that would be an NSAID. You should be ok though since it is temporary.

Does your oral surgeon know you've had WLS?

Pain pills that are opioid analgesics like codeine, vicodin, percocet, are hard on even normal sized stomachs! I always took mine with a little food or an 8oz glass of milk.
