God bless my dad...

Recommended Posts

So my mom tells me that my dad asked my pastor to pray for me for my upcoming surgery. He didn't say what kind of surgery though (THANK GOD!!). What she didn't tell me is that he did this during corporate prayer service at my church on Wednesday....in front of the ENTIRE congregation!!!! So when I got to church this morning, about 4 people came up to me asking me if I was okay....Smh....he meant well but now I have people looking at me like I'm dying because they don't know what kind of surgery I'm having! Lol! And on top of that, dad tells me that our retired police negotiator deacon cornered him asking a thousand questions trying to get more info! LOL!!!!! This is going to be interesting because we have some nosey people at my church lol:p

Sometimes you just can't catch a break. Like you said, dad meant well. :)

So what do you plan to say? Are you going to come clean to those who ask?

Right! I'm waiting for my pastor.to ask me what kind of surgery. I call him dad too. His kids and I grew up together so they are like my second family.

I heard this from a pulpit once, about how to respond to nosey people:

"You don't have to lie - just don't tell everything you know."

When my husband ask for prayer for me before my surgery people actually would ask if I had something serious and of course I told only the ones who ask. I've been pretty open about my surgery...if ASK but I normally try to stay low key about it. What makes me happy about this post is someone knowing the power in Prayer! I was so scared in pre op that I prayed non stop! My prayers were heard and I have healed perfectly :)

That is very sweet. My father has a prayer group of men who gather once a week and they all prayed for me during surgery. I even got a signed paper from all the men who prayed. ????

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
