Work note and how long were you off?

Was your work happy with your work note and did it give away that you had surgery? How long were you given off work?

I told my boss I was having a "female" surgery but needed to be on a special diet. I was out 3 weeks but did work online during the entire time. My boss is so happy that I had surgery because he says my attitude is much improved :) He thinks the weight loss is a bonus!

I never told my office. I used my 2 weeks of vacation to slip out and come back without anyone knowing. I was back at work with no problems within that time frame.

But I was prepared for the worst as well, and if I needed to, get my doctor to provide a recommendation to stay off work longer.

But other than the doctor saying I was out for a medical procedure, he was not required to spell out specifically why I was off work.

When I started looking into what I had to do to get the time off I only told my work I was having surgery. I then contacted my HR department and had my docs office send in the correct paperwork saying when my surgery was and that I would be off for almost 5 weeks.

I told my immediate department what was going on that I was having weight loss surgery and a few other people that I thought would wonder where I was. I am only part time. I was pretty determined not to share my surgery with to many people I was afraid of being judged for m decision. But I have to say every person I have talked to about this has ben super supportive. It has been so nice.

I really didn't need 5 weeks off of work, probably could have gone back after 2 weeks, but it was so nice to have the time off to get used to everything, and figure out my eating. My doc would have wrote me for longer if I had asked.

My Doctor wrote a letter stating I was having surgery and my expected return date. No mention of the sleeve. I was out for 5 weeks. My doctor wanted to make sure I was 100% before I went back. I had no regrets taking off all that time.

My concern is having surgery in mexico and providing the information that I have to provide showing it was done there. I already want to keep the surgery on the low by only telling the ones I must to be off work but im worried about bringing letters from mexico back and that perception too.

I was worried as well but had no issues with the paperwork saying my Dr and surgery were in Mexico.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
