acbayliss 33 Posted January 18, 2015 Hello. I am new here.I had gastric bypass on January 12th, 2015. I have been miserable ever since then. I was sent home with a JP drain. I hurt all the time. I can't believe I volunteered for this. I don't want to come off rude, but I am too uncomfortable to make an effort. When/Does this get better? I know I need to focus on me, but I have a family who needs me. Thanks to anyone who helps. I appreciate it. Christina
Janice1968 92 Posted January 18, 2015 It will get better, I promise. Your body just needs a few days don't push it. Even though you may only have a few small holes on the outside you have been completely rearranged on the inside. Lay around and recover. Your family will understand. MBM1Forever 107 Posted January 18, 2015 It does get better! I had surgery on the 8th. It was almost a week before I passed the gas and had a bowel movement, which I have to say changed everything. Before that, I thought my life was just over!
MisforMimi 760 Posted January 18, 2015 It will get better. You need a few more days rest and for your family to pick up the slack. It is shocking but it gets to be about you for a week or two more. I just let myself sit in that hospital and be taken care of...when does that EVER happen???!!!

bellabloom 2,467 Posted January 19, 2015 By day five I felt a lot better, you should be close soon. Take your meds and don't worry about eating right now!!!!!! Your probably realy swollen so trying to drink your food will (could) make you feel much worse. Measure out 1 tblsp of liquids per two hours!!! Seriously that's it for this stage. Some people can do more but not me and it was key to feeling better For the first week I craved food a lot. That goes away I promise. The pain is much better by 2 weeks out You won't regret you did this
